LOCATION
Lafayette Renew 1700 Wabash Avenue Lafayette, IN 47905
HOURS:
Midnight-8am Friday-Tuesday (Wednesday and Thursday off). Overtime hours as needed. Training will be 8am-4pm for an undetermined amount of time.
SALARY:
$2,226.84 - $2,561.67 bi-weekly
DESCRIPTION
Incumbent serves as Operator Technician for Lafayette Renew, responsible for performing controls associated with the physical, biological, and chemical operations of the wastewater treatment plant.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Collect samples at various locations at the wastewater treatment plant. Perform various phases of building and ground maintenance, and housekeeping using lawn chemicals, pesticides, and cleaning solutions. Drive pick-up truck with utility trailer and single-axle dump truck. Perform activities relevant to operations of the treatment plant, such as opening and closing valves, hosing weirs, cleaning tanks, loading and unloading grit and fine-screen dumpsters, painting, and loading sludge tanker trucks. Operate computer and SCADA system proficiently. Must quickly learn and use department software and know how to troubleshoot and analyze software or hardware issues as they arise. Must possess or acquire and maintain a current Class I - State of Indiana Department of Environmental Management Wastewater Certification within two (2) years of hire date. Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint; this includes the ability to prepare professional documents using Word and using Outlook to professionally correspond with City staff and the public, maintain current contact lists and appointments using calendars, and track projects using tasks in Outlook. High school diploma of GED or equivalent combination of training and/or work experience in related work. Possession of a valid Indiana driver's license and demonstrated safe driving record.
