Job Description

Sanitation Technician Job Description Summary Reporting to the department manager, the Sanitation Technician is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and compliant work environment while supporting overall operational efficiency. Key Responsibilities Follow all health and safety procedures, including Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and consistently wear required personal protective equipment (PPE). Ensure compliance with food safety standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA, SQF, or equivalent governing bodies). Prepare equipment for cleaning and perform lockout/tagout procedures safely. Use cleaning chemicals properly in accordance with safety guidelines and product labels. Clean and sanitize production equipment, including conveyors, drip pans, rinsers, pasteurizers, and related systems. Maintain cleanliness of floors, drains, ceilings, walls, and warehouse areas. Clean auxiliary and facility spaces, including restrooms, offices, and common areas. Empty waste and maintain exterior grounds as assigned. Verify sanitation effectiveness through inspections and chemical testing. Maintain accurate sanitation records and complete daily sanitation schedules. Minimize downtime during sanitation processes and pre-operational inspections. Required Skills Ability to read and interpret Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and technical documents. Knowledge of safe chemical handling and sanitation procedures. Ability to operate industrial cleaning equipment such as pressure washers and floor scrubbers. Strong awareness of potential sanitation risks and proactive problem-solving skills.

Ability to identify issues and implement effective solutions. Working Conditions Flexible schedule including weekdays, weekends, evenings, and overnight shifts as needed. Fast-paced production environment with varying temperatures and high noise levels requiring hearing protection. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb for extended periods. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
