Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY
Collects, contains, transports and stores ordinary and hazardous or infectious waste, in preparation for transport disposal. Can perform other duties of Environmental Services with projects as assigned and is usually cross trained with floor care / grounds processes. Keeps the waste collection area clean including all waste collecting rolling stock. Completes 2 / 3 rounds per shift in the assigned waste collecting locations on the main campus and completes the collection log. Must be able to lift up to 35-40 pounds and place in rolling container as well as extensive walking while pulling or pushing loaded waste carts. EDUCATION, CREDENTIALS, TRAINING and
EXPERIENCE
Minimum Required:
High School diploma or equivalent. Ability to read and follow written instructions, to include MSDS sheets, policies and procedures. On-the-job training in necessary skills and equipment use will be provided. Completion of DOT hazardous waste training provided by UNC Health SE will be completed for required certification. Can physically endure pushing large carts loaded with waste and lifting bags of waste.
Preferred:
Experience in an institutional healthcare setting.
