ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Field Utility Performs maintenance and repair to water and wastewater systems by operating machinery and equipment such as dump trucks, backhoes, jet trucks, and loaders; installing water and sewer taps; changing valves and fire hydrants; replacing meters; clearing service lines; flushing hydrants; and laying grass sod to restore work area. Assist with water service on or off City connections as needed. Collects water samples as needed. Performs maintenance in/around water plant and well sites to ensure compliance with state inspections. Perform maintenance and repairs, as directed, on reservoirs, pumps, and booster pumps by completing lubrication, checking fluid levels, and replacing belts and other components as required. Responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and recycling of water meters and meter boxes. Assists with the use and maintenance of the City's SCADA system. On-call rotation General Services Performs maintenance and repairs of streets and sidewalks by operating equipment and the use of hand tools, etc. Inspect, installs signs and performs sign maintenance. Inspects for code violations as it relates to the compliance of vacant lots, unauthorized signs in City ROW, and the reporting of high grass to the Public Works Operations Manager. Performs general building maintenance as needed. Completes service orders as assigned General All staff is considered Emergency Management Essential Personnel. In the event of an emergency and/or a required evacuation, the employee may be required to remain at work to provide needed services or perform essential duties for the benefit of the general public, including services or duties different from those performed in the normal course and scope of the position. Compensation during emergencies is outlined in the City's Personnel Policy. Interacts in a professional and respectful manner with City staff, officials, other agencies, and the public. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; to establish and maintain effective working relationships with subordinates, peers, and supervisors; to exercise sound judgment in evaluating situations and in making decisions; and to follow verbal and written instructions. Responsible for all prescribed safety rules and regulations. Qualifications:
High school diploma, GED or equivalent, and at least one (1) year of public works or construction experience. Knowledge of operating digging equipment (i.e. excavator, backhoe, etc.) preferred. TCEQ C Groundwater Operator preferred or ability to obtain within 12 months of employment (training provided). Texas Class C Driver's License Required
