Job Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Buyer is responsible for the acquisition of all necessary production materials. He or she must obtain new quotes for bids and create purchase orders upon acceptance of bids. The position requires frequent communication with vendors and other technical resources. Obtain material quotes for bids and create purchase orders upon acceptance of bids. Work with suppliers to get the best possible price and delivery. Plan and monitor the incoming schedule of materials to meet on-time delivery metrics. Strategize and manage all materials within the inventory target value. Expedite orders, quotes, and back orders and maintain in-house supplies. Participate in the scheduling of all projects. Review requisition orders to verify accuracy, terminology, and specifications. Track the status of requisitions, contracts, and orders. Develop new sources of supply as needed. Communicate with vendors and other technical resources. Assist Materials Manager in negotiating long-term contracts. Approve bills for payment. Maintain knowledge of all organizational and governmental rules affecting purchases and provide information about these rules to organization staff members and to vendors. Maintain a regular and reliable schedule as set by the supervisor according to handbook guidelines. Abide by all safety, quality, personnel, and other policies as applicable.
Marginal Work Requirements:
Perform other duties as assigned for the good of the department and company. Be actively engaged in the department's 6S program and complete all necessary paperwork.
Work Qualifications:
Formal education: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
Experience:
No specific experience required.
Computer Skills:
Must be able to use common office software systems, computer operations relative to data entry and ERP system.
Certificates and Licenses:
None required.
