Job Overview This position will be responsible for purchasing select components for the plant, ensuring timely delivery, managing inventory levels, and maintaining strong supplier relationships. The Buyer will collaborate with various departments to ensure materials are available to meet production requirements and quality standards. Responsibilities Purchase components for production while managing inventory to minimize excess yet prevent shortages. Monitor MRP and production schedules to ensure materials are available as required. Develop and maintain global sources; forecast future material needs. Research market trends to ensure competitive pricing, best value, and high-quality products. Review purchase requisitions, prepare and evaluate requests for quotations, and negotiate contracts within budget and authority limits. Follow up with suppliers to ensure on-time material availability or expedites; communicate updates with production and scheduling. Collaborate with Quality and suppliers to resolve defective material issues and determine corrective actions. Support Engineering product development with samples and sourcing. Identify and qualify new suppliers; negotiate prices, assess market conditions, and resolve delivery challenges. Assess supplier performance and maintain strong supplier relationships. Requirements Minimum of 1-2 years of purchasing experience. Experience with MRP systems in a manufacturing environment. Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills; including exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal abilities. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications. Ability to read and interpret blueprints. Highly motivated self-starter with a positive attitude. Exceptional attention to detail with strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Preferred Experience working with Epicor.
