Position Summary We are seeking a highly organized, detail-driven Components Buyer to join the Xttrium Supply Chain team at our Mount Prospect facility. This role is ideal for a recent graduate or early-career professional who thrives in a structured, fast-paced environment and is looking to build a strong foundation in procurement, planning, and inventory management. This is not a passive purchasing role. You will be expected to actively manage supply continuity, communicate with vendors, and support critical operational workflows that directly impact production performance. Success in this role requires a high level of ownership, precision, and accountability. This position reports directly to the Procurement Manager. Key Responsibilities
  • Review production schedules and demand forecasts to determine component requirements
  • Place and manage purchase orders for production components
  • Follow up with vendors to confirm order status and delivery timing
  • Identify and escalate supply risks before they impact production
  • Assist with inventory control tasks including returns and rejections
  • Maintain accurate purchasing and vendor data in ERP systems
  • Collaborate with Production Planning, Quality, Finance, and Warehouse teams
  • Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree preferred (Supply Chain, Business, or related)
  • 0-3 years of experience Core Competencies & Requirements
  • Advanced Excel skills (data organization, lookups, basic analysis)
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Process-oriented mindset
  • Highly organized with strong time management
  • Strong communication skills
  • High accountability and ownership
  • Inventory fundamentals: understanding of lead times, reorder points, safety stock, and demand planning concepts Preferred
  • ERP system exposure (SAGE, SAP, Oracle, etc.)
  • Manufacturing or regulated industry experience Compensation & Benefits
  • Salary:
    $60,000
  • $70,000 annually
  • Discretionary bonus based on company and department performance
