Join our mission as our next Buyer I. This position is responsible for purchasing direct and indirect materials with minimum supervision. Also responsible for maintaining KPI's and supporting departmental needs for the Purchasing Team. This position will be onsite in Carlsbad, CA. The Responsibilities Prepares purchase orders and places orders in an accurate and timely manner for direct & indirect. Monitors purchase order delivery and escalates when necessary. Occasionally Sources direct/indirect materials and services to support internal customer needs. Carries out duties in compliance with GMPs, ISO standards and established business policies Ensures proper approvals on purchase orders have been obtained. Maintains purchase order accuracy Maintains purchase order records Works Independently to perform other related duties as assigned Participates in process improvement activities Support the maintenance of KPI's Establish blanket purchase orders Support Purchasing Specific Projects for data reliability Perform other work-related duties as assigned
The Individual Required:
High School diploma or GED As minimum, understanding of a Buyer role and a max of 3 years of experience in a purchasing environment or related field Strong written and verbal communication skills. Basic e-mail, word processing and spreadsheet knowledge This position is not currently eligible for visa sponsorship.
Preferred:
Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred Manufacturing experience preferred.
Certifications:
APICS CPIM, CFPIM, or CIRM; or
NAPM CPM
Experience with MRP system Problem-solving skills

Suppliers, Others The Work Environment The work environmental characteristics are representative of both an office and manufacturing environment and may include handling potentially hazardous chemicals. Some time spent in production areas and warehouses. Flexible work hours to meet project deadlines. Occasional travel required. Travel includes airplane, automobile travel and overnight hotel. The Physical Demands No strenuous physical activity. Typically 25% of time in meetings or meeting individually with people, 75% of the time at the desk on computer/doing paperwork/ on phone. Walking, standing, and sitting for long periods of time are routine to accomplish tasks in this role. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision and the ability to adjust focus. Position may be required to use Personal Protective Equipment as posted. Salary Transparency The salary range for this position takes into account a wide range of factors including education, experience, knowledge, skills, geography, and abilities of the candidate, in addition to internal equity and alignment with market data. At QuidelOrtho, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The salary range for this position is $58,524.81 - $76,082.25 and is bonus eligible. QuidelOrtho offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, along with a 401(k) plan, employee assistance program, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, paid time off (including sick time), and paid Holidays.
