Key job duties include but are not limited to: Manages various suppliers and products to determine if material on hand is in sufficient quantity to meet requirements. Assists Purchasing Manager in maintaining timely delivery of quality products at competitive prices. Researches information on potential suppliers to find new sources of material. Consults catalogs and interviews suppliers to obtain prices and specifications. Prepares invitation of bid forms and forwards to supplier firms or for public posting. Prepares purchase orders. Works with suppliers to identify root cause and corrective action for purchased product that does not meet requirements. Confers with suppliers concerning deliveries. Negotiates prices, reviews specifications, delivery dates and presents information to supervisor for action. Performs vendor assessments. Assists with approval of invoice for payment. Must have strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel and Outlook. Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or three to five years related experience. Candidates must have the ability to work independently, have strong organizational skills and initiative while working with the group.
