Starting Salary:

$19.26 per hour All positions start at Step 1 in the Salary Range We are seeking outgoing, qualified candidates to assist the Volunteer Coordinator with various hands-on tasks both in the office and out in the field. Workdays consist of weekdays and weekends with varying start times ( early mornings/ evenings) .

Key Responsibilities:

• Under direct supervision of the volunteer coordinator, the volunteer facilitator will assist in overseeing the volunteer program with hands on work.
• This position assists with land stewardship on developed and undeveloped facilities.
• Work on land stewardship projects: Tree care, pile burning, fuel reduction, trail work, gardening, composting, planting, seed collection, and invasive plant removal.
• Will be working in all weather conditions.
• Collect and prepare data for planning projects and monitoring existing projects.
• Lead volunteer groups and organize community volunteer days.
• Assist in project prep and follow up on a wide variety of projects (events, recreation, and park operations).
• Does volunteer and climate action work, related work as assigned or required.
• Build lasting relationships with local organizations - service groups, churches, county, non-profits, schools, etc.
• 70% outdoors project tasks, 30% project planning (Flyers, social media contacting volunteer list, etc.)
• Drive PRPD vehicles and occasionally tow volunteer trailer(s).
• Other duties as assigned Qualifying Traits and Skills
• Have the ability to learn and communicate.
• Great communicator and must engage with the public in a positive manner.
• Problem solver.
• Knowledgeable with local flora and fauna.
• Past outdoor work experience in all weather conditions.
• Familiarity with park maintenance, trail, and vegetation tools and techniques or willingness to learn.
• Be able to conduct quality programming in all areas of service.
• Have a passion for local land stewardship and fostering a relationship between the general population and climate action initiatives.
• Enjoy spending time outside.
• Be an outstanding, collaborative, flexible team player, keen to engage in positive, supportive professional relationships and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with patrons, staff, and volunteers.
