PES is guided by a team of industry experts who provide value-added solutions, the ability to meet evolving infrastructure project requirements and provide timely responsiveness to project demands. SUMMARY We are a leading gas distribution contractor specializing in natural gas infrastructure projects, including pipeline installation, maintenance, and utility mapping. We are seeking an experienced CAD Technician II to join our team in Superior, WI. In this mid-level role, you will create and maintain precise technical drawings and models for gas distribution systems, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and supporting field operations. The ideal candidate has strong CAD skills in a utilities or gas environment, with the ability to translate field data into accurate designs for safe and efficient natural gas projects. Prepare detailed 2D and 3D drawings, models, layouts, and schematics for gas distribution systems, pipelines, and related infrastructure using CAD software, based on field sketches, red lines, specifications, and engineering input. Develop and update as-built/as-laid drawings, test charts, and documentation from field personnel data, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and adherence to client standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements (e.g., DOT/PHMSA guidelines). Collaborate with engineers, project managers, field crews, and GIS teams to interpret requirements, resolve discrepancies, and support project closeout, including coordination with billing and customer GIS departments. Perform quality checks on drawings for precision, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and compliance with gas industry standards (e.g., ASME, API). Maintain organized drawing files, libraries, and base maps for field use, while assisting in the development of CAD templates and standards to enhance workflow efficiency. Occasionally support field activities, such as verifying measurements or incorporating site data into designs. Contribute to process improvements, including integration of GIS data for utility mapping and special projects related to natural gas distribution.QUALIFICATIONS
Associate degree or technical certificate in Drafting, CAD Technology, Engineering Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience). 3-5+ years of hands-on experience as a CAD Technician or similar role, preferably in gas distribution, utilities, or pipeline industries, with progression to intermediate-level tasks. Proficiency in AutoCAD (required); experience with additional tools such as AutoCAD Civil 3D , SolidWorks , ArcGIS , or similar software for infrastructure and mapping is a strong plus. Strong understanding of technical drawing principles, utility mapping, and gas-specific standards (e.g., pipeline design, pressure testing documentation). Excellent attention to detail, spatial reasoning, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle field-to-office data translation. Ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints, specifications, field notes, and regulatory documents. Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including field personnel. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) for reporting and documentation.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in natural gas distribution, pipeline construction, or utility engineering. Familiarity with GIS integration, 3D modeling for pipelines, or as-built documentation processes. Knowledge of relevant regulations (e.g., federal/state gas safety standards) or certifications in CAD/GIS.Pay:
