The Girl Scouts of Southeast MI is seeking a Camp Program Education to support Girl Scouts' camp and outdoor programs. The CPE will help lead engaging, age appropriate activities for youth groups. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about outdoor education, youth development, and hands-on learning. Camp Program Educators play a key role in delivering safe, fun, and educational experiences across GSSEM camp properties. Key Responsibilities Lead and support camp programs and activities, including: Shooting sports (archery, slingshot, axe throwing, BB guns) Outdoor skills (fire building, knot tying, outdoor cooking, plant and animal identification) Creative and craft-based activities (painting, drawing, nature journaling) Facilitate programming for a wide range of age groups (Kindergarten through 12th grade) Manage and support group sizes ranging from small groups (5 campers) to large groups (up to 100 campers), alongside adult chaperones and additional staff Prepare for scheduled programs by reviewing lesson plans, gathering materials, and setting up activity areas Ensure a safe and inclusive environment by following all GSSEM safety policies, procedures, and risk management guidelines Collaborate with camp leadership and fellow Camp Program Educators to deliver consistent, high-quality programming Assist with general camp operations as needed, including cleanup, transitions between activities, and camper supervision Typical Schedule & Hours This role primarily supports Troop Camping weekends at Camp Hawthorn Hollow, which represent the bulk of scheduled work. Typical hours for Troop Camping weekends are:Friday:
4:00 PM- 9:00
PM Saturday:
8:00 AM- up to 9:00 PM (latest)
Sunday:
8:00 AM- 12:00 PM In addition to Troop Camping weekends, Camp Program Educators may also support: Weeknight programs: Typically 6:00 PM
- 9:00 PM Sunday afternoon events (after Troop Camping concludes): Typically 1:00 PM
- 7:00 PM Actual schedules may vary based on camp reservations and program needs.
