Job Description

This position is the lead programmer and facilitator for programs that serve at-risk youth and families in the camp and wilderness context, with primary focus during summer months on day and overnight camps. (At many camps, this position is titled "Program Director.") Should be a friendly, professional, creative, flexible individual who is able to anticipate and meet the needs of campers and their caregivers with a superior customer service attitude. Must have a passion for and experience working with the population served. Will help to design and lead the implementation of summer camp and year-round camp programs. Will play a key role in recruiting, training, and supporting seasonal and part-time camp staff and interns. Will assist with the recruitment and cultivation of campers. Will also be part of the year-round Camp and Retreat Center leadership and facilitation team, overseeing relevant activity areas, helping to develop programs, and serving and facilitating with other guests at the Camp and Retreat Center. We Need Adults Who Like kids and teenagers and believe they have value, even when they are struggling Are responsible, trustworthy, and patient Work well in high-stress situations We Require Adults To Have good moral character Be emotionally stable Be 20 or older Brief Description of Any Preferences Minimum of Bachelor's Degree in related field and at least 1 year of camp leadership experience. Prefer training or experience with population served and wilderness programming, and knowledge of camp licensing requirements. Prefer Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist able to supervise interns.
