Job Description

The North Penn YMCA is hiring Summer Camp Counselors for our Lansdale Area Family YMCA Branch 2026 Camp Seasons at on-site and off-site camp locations.(DHS Group Supervisor & Asst. Group Supervisor designation) The North Penn YMCA is a charitable, nonprofit organization committed to strengthening our communities through membership and programs that foster youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility for all. If you are interested in contributing to the largest Youth focused non-profit in the country, please read on. This is a seasonal position.
REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma required or GED required, Degree in Education or Human Services preferred. 2 years' childcare experience required. (2500 verified hours per DHS regulations) Must be a minimum of 18 years of age Required PA criminal background check, PA child abuse clearance, NSOR clearance and FBI fingerprinting Adult/Pediatric First aid, CPR, AED Certified Enjoyment from working with children and keeping positive relationships with their parents in high energy athletic environments Excellent communication skills
RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides a safe and healthy environment, both physically and mentally, to ensure the operation of quality program Plans and implements program curriculum in a developmentally appropriate manner, meeting the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual needs of the participants Provides careful, attentive supervision of all youth; alert at all times Reinforce positive behaviors, teach proper sportsmanship, and bring enthusiasm to every camp day Serve as positive role model, demonstrates professional behavior and understand positive youth development approaches to the social development of participants Facilitates a program environment that invites exploration, promotes positive play, and welcomes children Maintains positive relations with parents and other staff. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions Communicates effectively with staff and parents on a regular basis Sets up for and cleans up after all camp activities Must Acquire and maintain the following: Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED (valid 2 years) Mandated Reporter Training (valid 5 years) Background clearances (PA criminal, PA child abuse, NSOR, FBI background check) Additional training specific to job position
