POSITION SUMMARY:

We are seeking a reliable, hardworking, and self-motivated Custodial & Maintenance Assistant to support the daily operations of our summer day camp. This position plays an important role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for campers, staff, and families throughout the summer season. The schedule for this role is flexible and can range from 20-40 hours per week depending on the individual's availability and camp needs. At minimum, candidates would need to be available to work from 3:00-7:00pm Monday-Friday from June 22-August 21.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Daily Cleaning & Maintenance Duties a. Clean camp office areas, including: b. Emptying trash c. Sweeping floors d. Cleaning bathrooms (sinks, toilets, and mopping) e. Maintain pond-side and chalet areas by: i. Sweeping floors ii. Cleaning bathrooms iii. Removing trash f. Performing weed-whacking and outdoor upkeep g. Remove trash from camp facilities h. Assist with end-of-day camp operations i. Assist lifeguards with pool deck cleanup and lost-and-found organization j.

Clean and sanitize bathhouse facilities:

i. Mop floors ii. Clean sinks and toilets iii. Restock soap, paper towels, and toilet paper iv. Remove and replace trash bags k. Clean staff bathrooms 2. Weekly Duties a. Scrub moss buildup from blacktop surfaces b. Check and clean refrigerators as needed c. Deep sweep designated areas 3. Ongoing Grounds & Minor Projects a. Weed-whacking and trimming pathways b. Removing vines and overgrowth from fences and camp structures c. Lining and maintaining walking paths d. Spraying and managing roots/weeds as directed e. Cleaning picnic tables f. Sweeping program office spaces g. Cleaning and maintaining bathhouse floor mats 4. Overnight Camp Support (Bi-Weekly) a. During designated overnight camp weeks, responsibilities may include: b. Additional trash removal after dinner service c. Enhanced bathhouse cleaning procedures d. Thorough cleaning of staff bathrooms before evening activities Qualifications 1. Ability to work independently and manage time effectively 2. Comfortable performing physical labor indoors and outdoors 3. Ability to lift, carry, and move cleaning supplies and trash bags 4. Dependable, punctual, and detail-oriented 5. Previous custodial, maintenance, or camp experience is helpful but not required Schedule 1. Flexible summer schedule 2. Approximately 20-40 hours per week 3. Hours may vary based on availability, camp events, and operational needs 4. Some late afternoon/evening hours required Work Environment This position involves working both indoors and outdoors in a summer camp setting, including exposure to heat, humidity, and uneven terrain.
