Job Description
Role:
The Camp Parkwood Special Events Coordinator is responsible for conceptualizing, planning, organizing, and executing a wide range of special events that enhance the camp experience for all participants. This role requires close collaboration with camp leadership, staff, and external vendors to ensure events run smoothly and meet the camp's high standards for safety and engagement. The coordinator will design creative event concepts that align with Camp Parkwood's mission and values, fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment. Strong organization and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with staff, campers, parents and external vendors Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities to conceptualize engaging themes and activitiesPreferred Qualifications:
One year camp experience Event planning experience, preferably in a camp or recreational setting Ability to lead and motivate volunteers and temporary event staff.Responsibilities:
Develop and implement a comprehensive calendar of special events throughout the camp season. Create detailed event plans, including timelines, budgets, resource requirements, and contingency measures. Coordinate with vendors, performers, and guest speakers to secure necessary resources, permits, and equipment for events. Oversee event setup, execution, and breakdown, ensuring smooth execution and adherence to safety protocols..Skills:
The required skills enable the coordinator to efficiently plan and execute events by organizing logistics, managing budgets, and communicating clearly with all. Strong interpersonal skills are essential for building relationships with camp staff, participants, and vendors, ensuring smooth collaboration and positive experiences. Organizational skills help the coordinator juggle multiple events and deadlines without compromising quality or safety. Leadership and motivational skills are used daily to inspire staff, fostering a cooperative and enthusiastic team environment.
