• Entertains and assists groups of guests on interpretive walk on the 804 trail and host for Overleaf Lodge campfires on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday each week. Competencies

Oversees guest experience and stimulates interesting and inclusive conversations. Manages and distributes one s'more bag per guest. Extra s'mores within reason may be distributed upon request. Includes Overleaf and Fireside guests. Does not exclude anyone (unless behavior warrants). Please do not solicit (but do not exclude) random trail walkers. Communications

• Expresses ideas and thoughts verbally; exhibits good listening and comprehension; keeps others adequately informed; Exhibits tact and consideration. Promotes guest focus. Responds well to questions; demonstrates group presentation skills. Educates guests on interpretive walks. Stimulates conversations with the campfire group if need be. Personal Appearance
• Dresses appropriately for position and elements; keeps self well-groomed. Must wear closed toe shoes and Overleaf Vest and Nametag. Dependability
• Follows instructions and organizational values, responds to management direction; takes responsibility for own actions.

Is consistently at work and on time. Exhibits sound and accurate judgment. Uses time efficiently. Upon arrival host will gather supplies so they are ready immediately after the interpretive walk. Will start fire at 6:30 in order for it to be ready for guests at 7pm. Fire will be put out at 8:30 pm. You have the discretion to go beyond 8:30 pm for special occasions. Safety and Security

• Assumes responsibility for safety of group.

Observes safety and security procedures; reports potentially unsafe conditions; uses equipment and materials properly. Monitors all guests, especially children with marshmallow roasting sticks. Keeps sticks clean and tidy for guests. Keeps hose on and a bucket of water available at all times. Adequately puts out and soaks fire each night. Covers and locks fire pit. Turns off water spigot. Puts away and cleans all supplies. Cleans up campfire area. Carries radio to ask hotel staff for assistance if needed. Guests are not to be left alone with the fire. Education

• The host must possess local knowledge about the area; including the 804 trail, Yachats, The Overleaf Lodge and Fireside Motel, local flora and fauna, wildlife and history. Physical Demands
• This position requires lifting wood and the steel fire pit cover.

Must be able to lift 40 pounds. Host must be able to build and maintain campfire. This position also requires walking the 804 trail for one hour. Work Environment This position is outdoors. The weather can vary dramatically and must be prepared for. If there is rain the campfire activities and responsibilities will be moved inside the Overleaf Lodge lobby, utilizing the indoor fireplace. This position is seasonal from Memorial Day Weekend to

• Labor Day Weekend, or until a fire ban is issued.
