Job Description:
Position Summary The Cardiothoracic Specialist is a highly driven, clinically proficient sales professional responsible for advancing the agency's Cardiothoracic product portfolio. This individual serves as the clinical and technical expert within Cardiothoracic and is accountable for achieving and exceeding monthly and annual sales quotas within the assigned geography. This role requires deep anatomical knowledge of thoracic and cardiovascular procedures, strong surgical acumen, and advanced consultative selling capability. The Cardiothoracic Specialist will spend the majority of time in the field, including operating room support, sales calls, product demonstrations, surgeon education, and representative collaboration. This is a field-based role requiring extensive time in hospitals, surgery centers, and operating rooms. Travel within the assigned geography is required. Flexibility to support surgical schedules, including early mornings, late cases, and emergent procedures, is expected. Key Responsibilities Revenue & Strategic Growth Meet and exceed monthly and annual Cardiothoracic sales quotas Develop and execute strategic sales plans for the Cardiothoracic portfolio across the agency Collaborate with Territory Managers and agency leadership to monitor performance and adjust strategy as needed Identify growth opportunities within existing accounts and target new account acquisition Drive sustainable territory growth through proactive relationship-building and strategic account penetration Support cross-product expansion where clinically appropriate Product & Clinical Expertise Serve as the primary technical expert for all Cardiothoracic products Maintain advanced knowledge of thoracic and cardiovascular anatomy, procedures, and surgical techniques Provide in-depth technical support in the operating room Support surgeons and OR staff with case preparation, product selection, and intraoperative troubleshooting Remain current on clinical research, competitive products, and procedural advancements Demonstrate mastery of capital equipment and advanced technologies specific to the Cardiothoracic portfolio Training & Field Enablement Lead Cardiothoracic product training for representatives and agency personnel Ensure Territory Managers and Technology Specialists understand product indications, procedural flow, and positioning Support onboarding and skill development for new team members within the product line Assist with product launches and portfolio expansions within the agency Coordinate surgeon education events and labs Account Management & Business Development Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with Cardiothoracic surgeons, PAs, perfusionists, and OR staff Identify clinical needs and deliver value-based solutions aligned with patient outcomes and facility goals Develop pricing strategies and comprehensive quotes in partnership with leadership Communicate portfolio updates, educational opportunities, and clinical advancements Strategically position the Cardiothoracic portfolio within key accounts Competitive Intelligence & Market Awareness Collect and analyze competitive intelligence within the Cardiothoracic space Utilize insights to strengthen positioning and conversion strategies Provide structured feedback to leadership to guide portfolio focus and growth strategy Identify risks to market share and proactively implement counterstrategies Leadership & Culture Model True North Surgical values and professional standards Demonstrate leadership presence in the OR and in internal meetings Mentor Technology Specialists and Territory Managers on Cardiothoracic procedures and strategy Reinforce compliance standards and adherence to the Arthrex Code of Conduct Contribute to a culture of accountability, collaboration, and excellence Qualifications Education Bachelor's degree required (Business, Sales, Health Administration, Kinesiology, Medical Sciences, Biology, or related field preferred) Experience Experience in medical device sales required Direct Cardiothoracic experience strongly preferred Operating room experience required Demonstrated success meeting or exceeding sales quotas Experience supporting capital equipment and advanced surgical technologies preferred Core Competencies Advanced clinical and anatomical knowledge within Cardiothoracic procedures Strong consultative selling skills High level of executive presence and surgeon influence Excellent communication and relationship-building ability Strategic territory planning capability Strong organizational discipline and follow-through Emotional intelligence and adaptability in high-acuity surgical settings Resilience and composure under pressure Strict adherence to compliance and ethical standards
