Primary teaching assignment•Music instruction for Kindergarten•6th grade Design and maintain age appropriate music program Design, teach, and evaluate daily musical lessons for the classroom Provide opportunities for students to demonstrate their musical abilities to other students, parents, and the community through concerts, assemblies, and other public performances. Plan, implement and evaluate classroom instructional activities consistent with building and adopted district curriculum. Diagnose and prescribe learning and training programs for individual pupils based on student aptitude and interest. Provide for individual needs of assigned students. Demonstrate effective teaching practices in a K-5th/6th grade music educational setting. Demonstrate positive classroom management techniques for the large classroom setting. Cooperate with principal, department, staff, and community in implementation of comprehensive instructional and activities program(s). Participate in appropriate activities, support programs, and building and district inservice education/training program Maintain appropriate levels of confidentiality in all matters pertaining to students, parents, staff, and program. Attend building/district meetings and conferences as required. Other related duties and responsibilities as assigned Experience working with other staff members to accomplish common goals and to develop appropriate instructional Confer and communicate with students, parents or guardians, and other staff, in an open and positive manner to provide guidance, evaluation and encouragement of student Knowledge of Professional Learning Communities Maintain a safe and secure environment for all Excellent attendance and punctuality required. Other duties as assigned.Qualifications:
Possess (or qualify for immediate issuance) a valid Washington State teaching certificate with appropriate endorsement(s): K-12 Music Education required. Experience in working with elementary students preferred. Successful experience and interest/ability to instruct elementary school music programs. Proven ability to translate fundamental concepts of music into the elementary school instructional program. Knowledge of and the ability to operate sound reinforcement equipment (speakers, soundboards, etc.) Understanding and knowledge of elementary school students. Strong skills and background in instructional methods and strategies. Demonstrated ability to prescribe appropriate instruction and training; use a variety of teaching materials and strategies; plan and carry out instruction to meet varied needs of students. Ability to establish rapport with students, colleagues, and classified personnel. Other instructional duties may be assigned.Physical Requirements:
The job's functions requires the following physical demands: Occasional lifting (up to 30 pounds); carrying, pushing and/or pulling; some climbing; some stooping, kneeling, crouching and/or crawling; and significant reaching, handling, speaking, writing, hearing, and fine finger dexterity; frequent standing, walking, and sitting.
