Non-Exempt Job Summary:
The Middle School Night Custodian maintains an attractive, sanitary, and safe facility by coordinating with the day custodian to clean and disinfect the school facilities as well as providing arrangements for classroom activities, meetings and events, and ensuring that assignments are completed in a safe and timely manner.
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent Ability to use cleaning agents, supplies, and equipment in a safe, effective manner Demonstrated knowledge of methods for safe use, storage, and spill response of cleaning materials, chemicals, etc… Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, possess awareness (for self and others), listen actively, be patient, incorporate humor/lightheartedness into work, be empathic, and be customer-service oriented Ability to provide and follow oral and written communications Demonstrated ability to interpret information from Safety Data Sheets and adhere to safe work practices Ability to maintain confidentiality, work independently and in a team setting, and effectively problem-solve Ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, and families Demonstrated ability to maintain a positive attitude Demonstrated ability to perform general maintenance tasks in the areas of carpentry, plumbing, electrical, etc… Ability to support the District's vision, mission, and goals including the belief that all students can succeed Ability to wear an N95 mask when working with certain chemicals Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations
Preferred Qualifications:
Successful custodial experience in a school setting
Essential Functions:
Cleans and disinfects school facilities Maintains floors by vacuuming, mopping, waxing, and buffing as needed Washes windows on a regular basis Arranges furnishings and equipment for classroom activities, meetings, athletic contests, and other events Secures facilities and grounds by physically checking windows, inside and outdoor doors, and lights before leaving each day Collaborates with the building administrator, maintenance supervisor, and other building custodians to evaluate maintenance needs of the building and work to develop and implement daily and long-term maintenance requirements as well as inform of any major repairs or damages Moves a variety of items from one location to another Communicates daily with the other custodians to ensure everyone is aware of building activities for that day or the next day Requests equipment and supplies to maintain inventory Establishes and maintains productive, positive, healthy relationships with students, staff, and families Assists other staff as may be required Completes minor repairs to the building, furniture, and equipment Attends trainings as directed Other duties as assigned
Salary:
$25.90 - $30.02 per hour, depending on qualifications
Work Schedule:
2:30 pm - 11:00 pm, M-F, 8 hours per day, 260 days per year
Benefits:
15 paid holidays; 12 sick leave days, 3 personal leave days; health benefits including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and long-term disability insurance through SEBB; State retirement through DRS; other fringe benefits as allowed under the Full-Time Collective Bargaining Agreement.
