Medical Assistant — Full-Time (Non-Exempt) San Luis Obispo, CA 93401 $25.00

Position Type Full-Time | Non-Exempt (Hourly) About the Role We're looking for an experienced, enthusiastic Medical Assistant to join our established practice. You'll play a critical role supporting our physicians in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care. The ideal candidate is clinically sharp, great with patients, dependable, and a true team player who thrives in a collaborative, small-office environment. Because we are a small practice, flexibility and a willingness to support both clinical and administrative functions as needed are essential. Key Responsibilities Patient Interaction Greet and assist patients and provide a welcoming, professional experience Obtain medical histories, vital signs, and prepare patients for examinations Support patient education and follow-up instructions as directed Clinical Procedures Assist physicians with examinations and minor procedures Administer medications and injections as directed Perform basic laboratory tasks including blood draws, specimen collection, and processing Administrative Support Schedule appointments and coordinate referrals Manage patient records and documentation Handle phone calls and patient communication Support front office operations including registration, insurance information, and general workflow coordination Medical Records Update and maintain electronic health records accurately and timely Ensure completeness and confidentiality of patient information Maintain HIPAA compliance and privacy standards Exam Rooms & Supplies Prepare and maintain examination rooms Monitor and order medical supplies and equipment as needed Ensure clinical spaces remain organized and properly stocked Team Collaboration Work closely with physicians and staff to coordinate patient care and follow-up Assist in maintaining smooth daily office operations in a small, team-oriented practice Support both clinical and administrative functions as needed Qualifications Current Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), RMA, or equivalent recognized credential preferred Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program strongly preferred 3-5 years of clinical experience in a medical office, specialty practice, or hospital setting Strong patient interaction and communication skills Genuine team player comfortable working in a small, collaborative environment Proficient in EHR systems; experience with athenahealth strongly preferred Experience in women's health, primary care, or specialty practice is a plus Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Commitment to patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds Frequent bending, reaching, and assisting patients as needed Manual dexterity required for clinical procedures, specimen handling, and computer work Benefits Paid time off (PTO) accrual Monthly medical stipend ($400/month) Professional development opportunities Supportive small-team work environment Additional Requirements Must comply with applicable health screening, vaccination, and safety requirements consistent with clinic policy and California law Position includes a 90-day introductory review period (employment remains at-will) ThriveWell Women's Health, LLC is an Equal Opportunity Employer and values diversity in the workplace.
