The part time position offer is for afternoon coverage. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional patient care across various medical settings, including outpatient clinics, hospital environments, and emergency departments. This role involves supporting physicians and healthcare providers by performing clinical and administrative tasks to ensure efficient patient flow and high-quality service. Candidates with experience in hospital medicine, urgent care, or medical-surgical units will find this position particularly fitting. The Certified Medical Assistant will play a vital role in delivering comprehensive patient care while maintaining compliance with healthcare standards and protocols.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent; medical assistant certification preferred. Proven experience in a medical assistant role, preferably in a clinical setting. Proficiency in Spanish and English, both written and spoken, is required. Familiarity with immigration documentation and processes is highly desirable. Knowledge of medical terminology and experience with electronic medical record (EMR) systems. Strong organizational and multitasking skills with attention to detail. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Welcome patients and conduct patient check-in and check-out processes. Triage patients effectively, assess their needs, and prioritize care. Document patients' chief complaints, review of systems (ROS), and history of present illness (HPI) accurately. Provide clear and compassionate communication with patients and their families.
Clinical Duties:
Take and record vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, temperature, etc.) accurately. Perform venipuncture for blood draws with precision and adherence to safety protocols. Conduct EKGs, Ankle-Brachial Index (ABI) tests, and Pulmonary Function Tests (PFT) as directed by the healthcare provider. Assist healthcare providers during examinations and procedures.
Documentation:
Maintain accurate and detailed electronic medical records. Ensure all documentation is compliant with regulations and standards. Process and send medications electronically as prescribed by healthcare providers.
Immigration Packet Preparation:
Assist patients in completing immigration paperwork and documentation as necessary. Work closely with patients to ensure understanding of required documentation and processes.
Team Collaboration:
Collaborate with healthcare providers and office staff to ensure coordinated patient care. Participate in team meetings and training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge. Skills Proven experience in outpatient/inpatient settings Strong knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy. Familiarity with EHR ecW systems and medical administrative support functions Ability to perform patient care tasks such as intake assessments, vital signs measurement, medication administration, and specimen collection. Excellent communication skills with a focus on patient service and teamwork Basic life support (BLS) certification required; additional certifications such as X-ray or OR experience are advantageous Knowledge of geriatrics, medical-surgical care, internal medicine.
