Certified Medical Assistant

Minimum Qualifications:

must hold a current Certified Medical Assistant license. Two years or more experience is preferred. Competitive pay based upon experience.

POSITION PURPOSE

This position is necessary to assure the effective and efficient delivery of clinical services. It requires a thorough knowledge of modern office practices and procedures; ability to type accurately at a fast rate, ability to deal tactfully and courteously with the public; ability to secure cooperation and establish and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, staff, and the general public; ability to accept supervision and follow instructions; ability to perform duties with a minimum of supervision; ability to handle matters of a confidential nature, and provide support to the clinical staff completing basic medical tasks. This position also requires providing safe and effective care for patients under the supervision of a registered nurse and in compliance with regulations set forth by the LMAMH, state, local and federal agencies.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

1. Assist in

COVID-19

testing, including at fixed and intermittent sites by collecting samples for testing and completing all necessary paperwork for this service. 2. Welcome patients to the testing site and inquire as to their well-being. Report any complaints or observations to the drive through nursing staff. 3. Screen patients and staff per agency policy. 4. Perform nasal swab testing. 5. Collect nasopharyngeal swab samples. 6. Assist patients as needed while in the testing area. 7. Assure confidentiality of patient information and medical records. 8. Prepare lab requisitions for prescribed or stat lab samples according to laboratory specifications. 9. Label appropriately, prepare and store lab samples in accordance with required laboratory specifications. 10.Ensure collection of lab specimens by laboratory staff. 11.Ensure that any blood spills/bodily fluids are immediately cleaned with appropriate disinfectant according to agency policy. 12.Maintain environmental integrity and aesthetics, ensuring all areas of the testing site are safe and clean. 13.Prepare and organize supplies and equipment to prevent wastage. 14.Collect and organize supplies ensuring work area at the testing site is appropriately stocked and restocked. 15.Check for expired lab tubes and other supplies. 16.Paperwork as related to the testing site and as designated by the Clinical Nurse Manager/Program Manager. 17.Follow up on referrals and other patient appointments as needed. 18.Assist with other duties as assigned by the Clinical Nurse Manager. 19. Assist Telemedicine Physician. Obtain blood pressure, pulse, temperature and oxygen saturation readings for telemedicine patients. 20. Assist Telemedicine Physician with writing prescriptions. 21. Communicate with staff, consumers, families, other agencies and to the general public by telephone, in writing, and face-to-face. 22. Assist clinical professional and paraprofessional staff as needed. 23. Perform other duties as may be assigned by immediate supervisor. 24. Enter data electronically into clinical recordkeeping and billing systems and record all events involving consumers and patients of LMAMH on a daily basis.
