About the
Role:
The Resident Assistant (RA) is an entry-level position providing hands-on support to individuals with intellectual disabilities in an ICF/MR setting. Working under the supervision of licensed nurses and trained staff, the RA promotes independence, skill development, and quality of life for the people served. This includes assistance with daily living skills, personal care, health and safety, communication, social engagement, and community involvement.
What You'll Do:
Provide active treatment and support based on individual habilitation and behavioral plans. Assist with personal hygiene, grooming, dressing, meals, and mobility as needed. Support social, recreational, and community activities. Maintain a safe, respectful, and home-like environment. Observe, document, and report changes in behavior or health status. Follow all training and agency policies; participate in ongoing education and meetings. Operate lifts, wheelchairs, and adaptive equipment safely. Uphold confidentiality, professionalism, and teamwork at all times.
What We're Looking For:
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) required. Must complete Developmental Training Assistant (DTA) certification within 6 months (60 hours of training). Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, assist with transfers, and perform physical caregiving tasks. Strong communication, reliability, and commitment to person-centered care.
