Job Description
Category Schools - Orientation and Mobility Specialist Job Type Contract Bring your specialized expertise to a meaningful contract opportunity as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist, supporting K-12 students over the 2026-2027 school year. This unique position serves learners with visual impairments across a small caseload, making a tangible impact on their independence and success in the educational environment. The assignment is flexible, with the option to combine Orientation & Mobility and Vision Impairment services (up to 16 hours per month), or focus on one area at 8 hours per month, depending on your credentials and interests.

Active certification in Orientation and Mobility and/or Vision Impairment Experience supporting students with visual impairments in K-12 settings preferred Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working collaboratively with educators, families, and other service providers Ability to develop individualized plans and provide direct instruction tailored to students' needs Effective organizational and documentation abilities for maintaining accurate records and progress reportsExpected Responsibilities:
Assess students' orientation and mobility needs and create targeted instructional objectives Deliver hands-on orientation and mobility training to develop travel skills and safe navigation Collaborate with teaching staff, educational teams, and families to integrate O&M goals into IEPs Provide consultative support and adapt materials/environment as needed to foster student independence Monitor progress and adjust instruction based on individual growth and feedback Maintain compliance with state and district requirements for documentation and data collection This contract delivers the chance to positively influence students' educational journeys while enjoying a highly manageable caseload and schedule.
