Job Description

Category Schools - Orientation and Mobility Specialist Job Type Contract Experience the rewarding impact of supporting K-12 students as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist. This contract opportunity, commencing August 3, 2026, and running through May 28, 2027, is ideal for professionals eager to provide specialized services to a small, manageable caseload in a supportive educational environment near Hartwell, GA. Flexible arrangements are available. You may opt for a combined Orientation & Mobility (O&M) and Vision Impairment (VI) role for up to 16 hours per month, or focus solely on Orientation and Mobility for up to 8 hours monthly. The caseload consists of 4-6 students across various grade levels, each requiring personalized strategies and support to gain confidence, independence, and access to learning.
Qualifications:
Valid certification in Orientation and Mobility, Vision Impairment, or both Experience working with children or adolescents in educational or comparable settings Strong organizational and communication skills Ability to develop individualized orientation and mobility plans for diverse student needs Dedication to creating inclusive, supportive environments
Responsibilities:
Assess students' orientation and mobility skills to craft tailored instructional plans Provide direct instruction in safe, independent travel and navigation techniques Collaborate with teachers, IEP teams, and families to support students' goals and access Maintain accurate documentation of student progress and service logs Serve as a resource for staff and caregivers regarding strategies and best practices This position allows you to make a meaningful difference with a manageable schedule and the chance to work closely with a small group of students who truly benefit from your expertise.
