Revit Manufacturing Drafting Full Job Description Job Description:
CFS Truss & Wall Panel Drafter Position Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented CFS (Cold-Formed Steel) Drafter proficient in Keymark, Alpine, and/or Revit to join our design team. This role is responsible for creating precise layouts, managing structural load paths, and preparing production-ready documents for trusses and wall panels.
Primary Responsibilities Design & Modeling:
Generate accurate CFS truss and wall panel layouts using Keymark, Alpine, or Revit.
Structural Analysis:
Review building plans to identify load paths through building and ensure proper framing and bearing. DFMA (Design for Manufacturing): Optimize designs for assembly, ensuring parts fit efficiently and minimize material waste.
Takeoffs & Quoting:
Perform accurate hardware takeoffs (screws, clips, connectors) and assist in pricing/sales qualification.
Production Support:
Prepare organized drawing packages and production files; enter and navigate jobs within production queue.
Project Management:
Basic client interaction during design phases, maintaining tidy file structures and meeting project deadlines consistently.
Process Improvement:
Proactively identify gaps in the design-to-production system and suggest optimizations.
Technical Skills & Qualifications:
Any prior general experience with reading building plans or CAD software is beneficial. The software we do use is niche and can be learned on the job. We are looking for a bright drafter that ideally has some drafting experience but can learn quickly and contribute to making our team more efficient.
Technical Knowledge:
Strong understanding of CFS components, gauges, profiles, and product codes.
Software Proficiency:
Expertise in Keymark or Alpine (Trusses). Proficiency in Revit (Wall Panels).
Structural Intuition:
Ability to read complex architectural/structural sets and anticipate load-path issues.
Organization:
High level of attention to detail regarding file management and documentation.
Communication:
Ability to collaborate with production teams and communicate effectively with clients regarding design. Career Growth & Skill Levels We categorize our team based on a comprehensive skill assessment. Candidates will be evaluated on these criteria for compensation and role placement.
Junior Drafter:
Focuses on learning building plans, basic truss knowledge, and layout drafting.
Intermediate Drafter:
Demonstrates structural intuition, handles quoting, and prepares full document packages.
Experienced Drafter:
Proficient in multiple softwares, guides junior staff, and handles complex client communication. Drafting Coach / Training P.M.: Spearheads large projects, leads training initiatives, and pushes projects into production. Team Manager /
Leadership:
Focuses on sales/market knowledge, process improvement, and leading the division. Preferred Auxiliary Skills Experience with framing connector knowledge and specialized hardware. Prior experience in a production/manufacturing environment. Ability to maintain side-tasks and assist others during high-volume periods. Some kind of engineering, design, or construction experience.
