1 Glenaire is hiring a part time Chaplain. This role will be 24 hours a week with a set schedule. The Chaplain works on a team with other Chaplains to provide spiritual and religious support services for Glenaire residents including visitation, worship leadership, study groups, memorial services, and activity planning with the residents' Spiritual Life Committee. The Chaplain also interacts, as needed, with a wide range of local clergy as they seek to meet the spiritual needs of residents. The Chaplain works with department directors and staff in all parts of Glenaire and responds to employee needs. At all times, the Chaplain approaches the diverse beliefs and backgrounds of those served with cultural and spiritual humility. The Chaplain role encompasses these areas Visitation Pastoral care visits with residents focused on spiritual support and growth at times of changing health, family crisis, or end of life. The Chaplain completes a spiritual assessment, determines proper interventions, and assesses outcomes and effectiveness during visits. The Chaplain visits residents in Independent Living, Assisted Living, and the Healthcare Center (Skilled Nursing). Pastoral care may also include members of the resident's family. Worship leadership Leadership (shared with the Chaplain team) of up to two Sunday afternoon Christian worship services each month, of approximately one hour each, using familiar hymns, scripture readings, a sermon or meditation, and prayers. Leadership or coordination of seasonal worship services or religious observations, such as Christmas, Hanukkah, Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and the Annual Memorial Service. Regular leadership of worship services at which holy communion is offered. Leadership of memorial services for residents, especially residents that do not have a religious or spiritual community. Services can range from formal religious services to informal secular gatherings. Small Groups Organization and/or leadership of small groups (Bible or theological study groups, prayer/meditation groups, support groups, etc. as interest dictates.) Activity Planning Planning with the Spiritual Life Committee of the Glenaire Residents' Association. Attendance at monthly meetings of the Spiritual Life Committee, collaboration with the Committee's vision and concerns, and assistance with the Committee's activities.
Required:
Master of Divinity or the equivalent Ordination or endorsement by your denomination or faith group Completion of a Level I Unit of ACPE accredited Clinical Pastoral Education, with additional relevant experience or completion of a residency year of ACPE accredited CPE in a health care setting. Sufficient flexibility in weekly schedule to meet unexpected needs as they arise. Capacity to work within a nursing home environment, where attention to regulations, collaborative work, and confidentiality are paramount. Communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to empathize, employ active listening skills, form relationships with diverse populations, set appropriate boundaries and work within complex family systems and healthcare teams. Evidence of genuine care and fondness for the special needs and interests of older adults, particularly in conditions of declining health. Why Glenaire?
