Chef/Barista

Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Chef/Barista to join our vibrant café team! We are opening up a new food truck along side our sister restaurant, Bluestem Bistro. In this role, you will be the heart of our customer experience, crafting delicious food and expertly preparing coffee beverages that keep guests coming back. Your energy, attention to detail, and passion for food and beverage service will create a welcoming atmosphere where every visitor feels valued. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to showcase your culinary skills and barista expertise while delivering exceptional customer service in a fast-paced environment. Duties Prepare and serve high-quality coffee drinks, teas, and specialty beverages with precision and flair, ensuring consistency in every cup. Create a variety of fresh food items, including sandwiches, baked goods, and snacks, following food safety and food handling standards. Operate POS systems such as Aloha POS and Micros POS to process orders accurately and efficiently, managing cash handling and cashiering responsibilities. Provide outstanding customer service by greeting guests warmly, taking orders clearly, and addressing any questions or special requests with enthusiasm. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the café area, including food prep stations, seating areas, and equipment to ensure a safe and inviting environment. Manage time effectively during busy periods to serve customers promptly while maintaining quality standards. Follow all food safety protocols, including proper food preparation techniques and hygiene practices, to ensure compliance with health regulations. Skills Proven experience as a Barista with strong coffee-making skills and familiarity with various brewing methods. Prior food service or café experience demonstrating excellent customer service skills. Proficiency with POS systems such as Aloha POS and Micros POS for efficient order processing. Strong time management skills to handle multiple tasks seamlessly during peak hours. Knowledge of basic math for cash handling, retail math calculations, and transaction accuracy. Ability to perform food handling duties safely while adhering to food safety standards. Excellent communication skills to engage positively with customers and team members. Experience in the food industry with an understanding of serving techniques, food preparation, and retail math principles.
