Chemist

Job Purpose:

The Chemist is responsible for completing research and development projects, offering technical expertise to internal and external customers, and supporting our operations team in the manufacturing of our entire product line. The Chemist works independently alongside other chemists and may occasionally supervise lab technicians.

Position Responsibilities:

Primary role is the design of new products; develops, implements, and manages processes to ensure that new formulations meet required specifications for quality, function, and reliability; prepares lab-scale samples for product validation; establishes quality control specifications; provides technical and sales information; generates and maintains safety data sheets. Interacts with customers, sales staff, and our internal quality department to help resolve complaints or product performance issues or questions. Wear and maintain all personal protective equipment. Handle and store all tools, chemicals, and waste materials in a safe and efficient manner while maintaining a neat and clean work area. Coordinates with the purchasing department to meet with raw material vendors and review new product offerings; tests, approves or rejects alternate sources of current raw materials. Participate in training, committees, and all other related duties as assigned. Some occasional travel may be required for customer site visits, trade show attendance, or training.

Proficient understanding of mathematics. Proficient with related computer software. Ability to spend prolonged periods of time sitting, standing, walking, reaching, and occasionally lifting up to 50#. Must have visual acuity to distinguish color. Must be able to hear emergency announcements, verbal instructions, and forklift warning signals. Must be able to work in a variety of environmental conditions and tolerate exposure to typical noises, obstacles, and odors associated with a manufacturing environment.

Education and Experience:

High school diploma required, Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or related field highly preferred.
