Contract Job Summary :
Chicago Rush staff are responsible for leading, training, and developing soccer players of all skill levels. The coach will work with athletes to improve their skills, teamwork, and game understanding, ensuring that both individual and team objectives are met. The coach will also promote a positive, inclusive environment that fosters personal growth and sportsmanship.
Key Responsibilities :
Team Management :
Lead, manage, and motivate the team. Organize and plan training sessions, focusing on individual skill development and team tactics. Provide direction during practices, games, and team events. Develop game strategies and adapt tactics based on the team's strengths and weaknesses.
Skill Development :
Assess player strengths and weaknesses to identify areas for improvement. Implement drills and exercises designed to improve fitness, technical skills, and tactical awareness. Work with players on individual skills, such as passing, shooting, dribbling, and defending.
Game Day Management :
Manage the team during matches, making strategic decisions during gameplay (e.g., substitutions, formation changes). Analyze opponents and prepare the team with specific strategies for each game. Maintain a calm, positive demeanor during games and foster good sportsmanship.
Player Development :
Provide constructive feedback and encouragement to players at all levels. Motivate players to continuously improve their skills and fitness. Foster leadership and teamwork within the team.
Administrative Duties :
Maintain up-to-date records of player progress, attendance, and performance. Communicate regularly with players, parents, and other stakeholders regarding team activities, schedules, and goals. Ensure that all safety protocols are followed during practices and games.
Team Culture and Discipline :
Establish and maintain a positive and respectful team culture. Address any behavioral or disciplinary issues promptly and professionally. Ensure all players adhere to team rules and codes of conduct.
Collaboration :
Collaborate with assistant coaches, team managers, and other staff members to ensure smooth operation of the team. Work with the club/organization to help with recruitment, player evaluations, and other team-building activities.
Community Engagement :
Encourage team members to participate in community events and soccer-related outreach programs. Promote soccer and its benefits within the community.
Qualifications :
Previous coaching experience (youth, high school, college, or professional) is preferred. Knowledge of soccer fundamentals, strategy, and rules of play. Strong leadership and communication skills. Ability to work with diverse teams and players of all skill levels. CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain). Ability to manage time effectively and plan accordingly for practices, games, and other team events. A passion for developing players both on and off the field.
Physical Demands :
Ability to demonstrate soccer techniques, run drills, and engage in physical activity for extended periods. Must be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions (e.g., rain, heat).
Preferred Qualifications :
A coaching certification (e.g., USSF, NSCAA, UEFA). Experience working with specific age groups or levels of play (e.g., youth, high school, collegiate).
