Byers Industrial Services is seeking a highly strategic and operationally driven Chief Construction Officer (CCO) to lead and oversee all construction operations across the organization. This executive leadership role is responsible for driving operational excellence, project execution, workforce development, safety compliance, profitability, and long-term organizational growth across large-scale industrial and commercial construction projects. The Chief Construction Officer will serve as a key member of the executive leadership team and will provide high-level oversight of project management, field operations, estimating, scheduling, construction strategy, resource allocation, and client relationships. The ideal candidate is a proven construction executive with extensive experience managing complex multi-project operations while building scalable teams, systems, and operational processes. Key Responsibilities Executive Leadership & Strategy Develop and implement long-term construction strategies aligned with company growth objectives and operational goals. Provide executive oversight for all construction operations, field activities, and project execution efforts. Establish company-wide construction standards, workflows, and best practices to improve operational efficiency, safety, quality, and profitability. Collaborate with executive leadership regarding forecasting, workforce planning, budgeting, and business growth initiatives. Serve as a senior representative of the company during client meetings, negotiations, and strategic partnerships. Construction Operations Management Oversee multiple large-scale industrial and commercial construction projects simultaneously from preconstruction through closeout. Ensure projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and in alignment with company and client expectations. Lead project scheduling initiatives utilizing Primavera P6 and other construction management platforms. Direct estimating, budgeting, forecasting, and cost-control strategies to maximize project profitability. Oversee procurement, subcontractor management, contract administration, and change order processes. Project Oversight & Technical Leadership Provide executive-level leadership regarding construction means and methods, manpower planning, and project execution strategies. Review project drawings, blueprints, specifications, schematics, and technical documentation to ensure operational alignment. Monitor project performance metrics, labor productivity, financial reporting, scheduling, and resource utilization. Coordinate effectively with project managers, superintendents, engineers, architects, subcontractors, and clients. Safety, Compliance & Risk Management Champion a company-wide culture focused on safety, accountability, and operational excellence. Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, local/state/federal building codes, and internal safety standards. Conduct operational audits, site reviews, and risk assessments to proactively identify and mitigate project risks. Develop and implement crisis response strategies, compliance initiatives, and operational improvement plans. Team Leadership & Workforce Development Lead, mentor, and develop Project Managers, Superintendents, Estimators, Operations Managers, and field leadership personnel. Build scalable operational structures capable of supporting company growth and expanding project portfolios. Foster accountability, communication, collaboration, and leadership development across all construction departments. Participate in executive-level hiring, succession planning, and organizational development initiatives. Qualifications & Experience 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in construction management, operations, or executive construction leadership roles. Proven experience overseeing large-scale industrial, commercial, manufacturing, infrastructure, or mission-critical construction projects. Strong understanding of project scheduling, estimating, budgeting, forecasting, and contract administration. Extensive knowledge of construction means and methods, field operations, safety compliance, and project lifecycle management.
Proficiency with industry-standard software including:
Primavera P6, Procore, Bluebeam, HeavyBid, Civil 3D, Microsoft Project, & Microsoft Office Suite Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, technical drawings, and project specifications. Exceptional leadership, organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities. Demonstrated success leading multidisciplinary teams across multiple concurrent projects. Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Engineering, or related field preferred. OSHA 30 certification or equivalent safety leadership experience preferred.
