Performs a variety of professional legal and supervisory functions to direct the work activities of a unit within the Office of the District Attorney. : (The following essential job functions and examples of duties are illustrative only and are not intended to be all inclusive; positions assigned to this class may not perform all of the duties listed.) Directs the work activities of assigned unit personnel. Acts as a resource on legal reasoning, statute interpretation, and trial tactics; directs the formulation of plea agreements in unusual or sensitive cases. Conducts annual performance reviews and makes recommendations with regard to salary adjustments/exceptional performance pay. Acts as a mentor/coach to improve/refine subordinates' trial skills and legal knowledge. Monitors division docket calendars to ensure coverage for deputies in trial and to minimize issues surrounding speedy trial. Acts as lead prosecutor on murder and other high profile/complex crimes; confers with the District Attorney and other Chief Deputies on the determination of death penalty cases. Dependant upon assignment, may provide statistical data to reflect unit work activities as a basis for personnel and/or materials requests through the budget process. Acts as a member of the selection committee to interview and recommend attorney candidates for hire. Performs any and all of the duties associated with a District Court Deputy.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION and/orEXPERIENCE
: Graduation from law school as provided under Rule 205.1 of the Colorado Rules of Civil Procedure. Senior Deputy District Attorney or above required.CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, & REGISTRATIONS
: Licensed to practice law in the State of Colorado. Must possess a valid Colorado Driver's License upon hire, with complying insurance. Review of motor vehicle record is required at time of hire and periodically throughout employment. This position requires successful completion of a criminal background check including fingerprinting through a national database.ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

This may mean being available to perform additional duties and hours beyond what is normally required. In the event that an exempt employee does work more than 40 hours a week in support of County operations during an emergency, such employee may receive overtime or other appropriate wage compensation in accordance with existing County policies or at the discretion of the County.
