Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a passionate and dynamic Child Care Director to lead and oversee the daily operations of our early childhood education center. Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Program Leadership & Educational Quality Lead and supervise a team of teachers to provide a warm, nurturing environment that supports children's social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development Ensure implementation of developmentally appropriate practices and program philosophy across all classrooms Present a professional and positive image as a representative of the center at all times Support the overall function of the school as needed, including performing duties across roles when necessary Staffing & Scheduling Foster a collaborative, team-oriented work environment Support, coach, and provide constructive feedback to teaching staff Conduct annual staff evaluations and oversee ongoing professional development planning Proactively monitor staffing needs and address coverage gaps to ensure continuity of care and compliance with ratios Recruit, interview, hire, onboard, and train new staff members Maintain professional boundaries with staff and families and ensure confidentiality Review and manage staff schedules Submit payroll and required weekly/monthly documentation in a timely manner Operations Develop and communicate action plans for unforeseen circumstances (e.g., snow policy, emergency closings, staff illness or vacancy, power loss) Communicate facilities issues with the building management and Board, and oversee a timely resolution Ensure the school operates smoothly, safely, and in compliance at all times Enrollment & Outreach Lead recruitment and enrollment efforts Maintain full enrollment and manage waitlists Represent the center positively within the broader community Financial & Administrative Management Oversee on-site budget management, including supply budgeting and purchasing Monitor enrollment, staffing costs, and operational expenses Align financial decisions with the Board and overall nonprofit goals and sustainability Pursue grants and funding opportunities and maintain relationships with current funders Governance & Compliance Attend monthly Executive Board meetings and provide a Director's Report on enrollment and operations Maintain and enforce center policies and procedures Ensure compliance with state licensing, safety, and educational standards Maintain all required state certifications and continuing education Family & Community Engagement Cultivate positive relationships with families, teachers, district leaders, state licensing authorities, and the local community Promote a strong sense of community by organizing family events and fostering parent partnership Serve as a primary point of contact for family communication and concerns Collaboration with Assistant Director Partner with the Assistant Director to support daily operations, maintain staffing coverage, and mentor teachers. Delegate appropriate operational and instructional leadership responsibilities while maintaining overall accountability Qualifications Required Skills, Credentials, & Experience A love for children and a strong desire to make a difference every day Possess good time management, organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, including the ability to work as part of a team Communicate effectively both orally and in writing, and receive and provide feedback Meet all NH State requirements for Center Director Be at least 21 years of age; Have a high school diploma or equivalent, including but not limited to General Equivalency Diploma (GED), a High School Equivalency Test (HiSet), or a Test Assessing Secondary Completion (TASC); Have 3 credits in management or supervision, awarded by an accredited college or university, a minimum of 2 years' experience in a supervisory or management position in lieu of the 3 credits in management and supervision, or a written plan for completion of 3 credits in management or supervision from an accredited college or university; Have a minimum of 1500 hours of experience working with children in a licensed child care program or public or private elementary school; Have one of the following: A minimum of an associate's degree awarded by an accredited college in related coursework; An additional 3000 hours of experience working with children in a licensed child care program or in a public or private elementary school and documentation of a non-expired child development associates (CDA) in center-based programs awarded by the council for professional recognition; Current certification in early childhood, elementary, or special education by the Department of Education; Certification in a teacher preparation program accredited by the Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education (MACTE) in infant and toddler, early childhood, or elementary I, together with 60 credits, awarded by an accredited college or university; or Documentation of 60 credits, of which at least 24 shall be in related coursework, including at least 3 credits in each of the following core knowledge areas: 1. Children with special needs; 2. Child growth and development; and 3. Curriculum for early childhood education; and Be on file with the department as a center director
Pay:
$49,920.00 - $54,080.00 per year
