NY Location:
Suffolk County, NY (Mt. Sinai area) Are you an experienced Child Care Director, Preschool Director, or Early Childhood Education Leader who believes in building strong teams, supporting families, and creating a true sense of community? We are seeking a Center Director to lead a high-quality daycare / preschool program in New York. This role is ideal for a compassionate, organized leader who can balance licensing compliance, staff leadership, and family engagement while creating a warm, welcoming environment for children and educators alike. This is more than a management role—it's an opportunity to lead a school where relationships come first.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee daily operations of a licensed child care center in compliance with
NYS OCFS
regulations Lead, coach, and develop a team of early childhood teachers and assistant teachers Maintain required staffing ratios, group sizes, and scheduling Build strong relationships with families and foster a community-centered environment Ensure excellence in health & safety, curriculum implementation, and classroom quality Manage enrollment, staffing needs, and overall center performance Support hiring, onboarding, and ongoing staff development
Qualifications:
Experience as a Center Director, Assistant Director, or Preschool Director Strong knowledge of New York State OCFS licensing requirements Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field (or qualifications that meet NYS Director requirements) Proven leadership experience in a child care center, daycare, or preschool setting Strong communication, organization, and team-building skills Passion for supporting educators and building community with families
Preferred:
Experience leading multi-classroom early childhood programs Background in staff coaching, retention, and culture-building Familiarity with enrollment growth and center operations
