Church Accompanist

Job Overview Join our vibrant faith community as a Church Accompanist, where under the current FUMC-Valdese Music Director, you wil provide music for the Chancel Choir during the Sunday morning service, weekly choir rehearsals, and other special events to include but not limited to Christmas and Easter. Your expertise in keyboard or piano performance will help foster a welcoming atmosphere that encourages congregation participation and spiritual growth. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to combine your passion for music with meaningful service in a supportive church setting. Duties Provide music for Chancel Choir each Sunday morning service. Provide music for Chancel Choir for weekly rehearsals. Work closely with Music Director to review music selections. May be asked to accompany organist on hymns. Rehearse regularly with choir, soloists, and other musicians to prepare for upcoming services and special events. May be asked to play gathering music on Sunday morning. Adapt to different musical styles and arrangements, including traditional hymns and seasonal selection. Qualifications Ability to read music, to include sight-reading capability. Effective oral communication skills. Piano skils, as well as accompanist experience, including the ability to play parts separately or together.
