Job Description

Hyundai Engineering & Construction (Hyundai E&C) is Korea's premier global construction leader with a 78-year legacy. Currently, we are spearheading a historic $5.8 billion integrated steel mill project in Donaldsonville, Louisiana. As the primary force behind this landmark development, we are building the first integrated electric arc furnace (EAF) facility in the U.S., delivering world-class industrial infrastructure on a global scale. To drive this monumental vision forward, we are seeking a highly skilled Civil & Building Engineer to join our team and contribute to the technical excellence of this landmark facility. Key Responsibilities 1.
Technical Oversight & Implementation Blueprint Interpretation:
Review and interpret complex construction drawings, specifications, and project documents to provide clear guidance to field crews.
Layout & Control:
Establish primary and secondary construction control points (surveying/layout) to ensure structural accuracy and consistency.
Technical Troubleshooting:
Diagnose on-site engineering challenges or discrepancies and develop feasible, compliant solutions in real-time. 2.
Project Management & Administration Documentation:
Maintain accurate, organized, and detailed project records, including daily reports, site logs, and as-built documentation.
Scheduling & Coordination:
Assist the project team in scheduling equipment, ordering materials, and managing subcontractor workflows to ensure milestones are met.
Cost Monitoring:
Monitor resource allocation, track labor hours, and assist in identifying variances from the budget.
Meeting Participation:
Attend and contribute to foreman huddles, project progress meetings, and safety briefings. 3.
Safety & Quality Management Safety Leadership:
Act as a frontline safety leader by enforcing the company's Health & Safety Program, conducting Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and leading safety inspections. Quality Control (QC): Perform rigorous site inspections and testing to ensure all installed work meets contract specifications and quality standards.
Compliance:
Ensure all site operations comply with local building codes, environmental regulations, and project-specific requirements. Qualifications 1.
Technical Proficiency Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
Software Skills:
Proficiency in MS Office and construction-specific software such as AutoCAD, Microsoft Project , etc.
Engineering Knowledge:
Solid understanding of structural design, construction materials, surveying, and building systems. 2.
Soft Skills Communication:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to relay technical information across diverse project teams.
Problem-Solving:
Strong analytical skills to diagnose issues under pressure and develop effective, fact-based solutions.
Leadership & Teamwork:
Ability to work collaboratively with craft labor, superintendents, and management while motivating teams to maintain productivity.
Organization:
High level of discipline in time management and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. 3. Physical & Environmental Requirements Ability to work effectively in an active construction environment, including standing, walking for extended periods, and accessing all areas of the job site. Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
