The Department of Facility Maintenance (DFM) , Storm Water Quality Division , is recruiting for four (4) Civil Engineer III positions at Kapolei Hale. What You Will Do Assist with professional engineering projects related to the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) Storm Water Management Program. Plan, design, construction management, product evaluation, research & development, system optimization, database management, and Geographical Information System (GIS) mapping. May participate in periodic cross training and supplementary work activities within the division to comply with regulatory obligations.

• The Department of Environmental Servi ces (ENV ) , is recruiting for one (1) Civil Engineer III position in the Refuse Collection & Disposal Division and one (1) position in the Office of Administrative Support Division .

What You Will Do Perform routine to moderately complex professional engineering work under general supervision Plan, organize, coordinate, and direct all technical and administrative activities of simple projects assigned Assist higher level engineers on more complex projects and tasks

• Salary for the position at the Department of Environmental Services, Refuse Collection & Disposal Division, is commensurate with applicable experience, pending approval: $6,528 to $7,317 per month
• Salary for the position at the Department of Environmental Services, Office of Administrative Support, is commensurate with applicable experience, pending approval: $6,528 to $7,530 per month
• The Department of Design and Construction (DDC ) is recruiting for one (1) Civil Engineer III position in the Civil Division and one (1) position in the Facilities Division .

What You Will Do Perform professional engineering work under general supervision including contract administration and compliance oversight for various facets of construction projects Plan, organize, and manage assigned Capital Improvement Program (CIP) funded projects Assist higher level engineers on more complex projects and tasks

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT

: Equivalent to graduation from a regionally-accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in an engineering specialty.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT

: Two year(s) of non-registered professional civil engineering experience.

Applicable Skills Needed Knowledge of:

civil engineering principles and practices Engineering mathematics and mechanics of materials Topographic surveying principles and practices Structural, mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and sanitary engineering concepts as they apply to civil engineering Ability to: perform civil engineering design work and supervise construction and inspection activities analyze stresses and determine the required foundations and structural features supervise a small group of subordinate employees prepare engineering and inspection reports

Substitution :

A Master's degree in Civil Engineering from a regionally-accredited college or university will substitute for one year of non-registered professional civil engineering experience.

NON-QUALIFYING EXPERIENCE

Having the required number of years of experience will not in itself be accepted as qualifying for the position. Your overall experience must have been of such scope, level and responsibility as to conclusively demonstrate the ability to perform the duties of the position. Work experience while in an engineering student intern position will not be creditable as equivalent to professional engineering experience.
