Job Description
The position requires assembling cleaning carts; preparing, mixing, and diluting cleaning solutions; and washing floors, corridors, stairwells, walls, partitions, and windows using mops, detergents, brushes, and other devices. The incumbent vacuums, strips, and waxes floors, and shampoos carpets using manual or mechanical equipment; and scrubs and cleans showers and restrooms, including toilets, sinks, and drains, using hand-operated equipment and agents.
In addition, the incumbent replaces light bulbs, and dusts or washes light fixtures and high places (such as ceilings) using ladders and other equipment; polishes wood and metal surfaces, fixtures, furniture, and equipment; monitors supplies; and notifies supervisors of supply levels, equipment malfunctions, and maintenance issues.
Furthermore, the incumbent is responsible for replacing, cleaning, and/or hanging building fixtures and decorative items (such as curtains, blinds, and pictures); moving and arranging furniture for events; and performing grounds maintenance, such as removing snow, salting walkways, cleaning sidewalks, and mowing lawns. Additional duties include routine laundry tasks and changing bed linens. The minimum qualifications required for this vacancy. Minimum Qualifications There are no education or experience requirements for this class. Cleaners must be physically able to perform the tasks of the position and understand and carry out written and oral instructions.
Preferred Qualifications:
The preferred candidate will have experience in a long-term care geriatric setting cleaning. Additional comments regarding the vacancy. For new State employees appointed to graded positions, the annual salary is the hiring rate (beginning of the Salary Range) of the position. Promotion salaries are calculated by the NYS Office of the State Comptroller in accordance with NYS Civil Service Law, OSC Payroll rules and regulations and negotiated union contracts. Some positions may require additional credentials or a background check to verify your identity.
