Custodian Job Description The Custodian maintains a clean, safe, and well-functioning facility by performing daily cleaning, basic building maintenance, and support for internal office moves and relocations. This role ensures that all areas of the building remain orderly, sanitary, and operational to support efficient day-to-day operations. Responsibilities Perform daily cleaning of the building, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and general tidying of all assigned areas. Clean and sanitize restrooms, including toilets, sinks, counters, mirrors, and floors, and replenish supplies such as soap, paper products, and other consumables. Collect, remove, and properly dispose of garbage and recycling from interior and exterior areas of the building. Stock and organize janitorial and facility supplies, including unpacking, receiving, and putting away deliveries. Support internal office moves and relocations by assisting with the tear down and building of office cubicles and related furniture. Perform general building maintenance tasks as needed, including building start-up procedures to ensure the facility is ready for daily operations. Complete minor electrical tasks as assigned, such as replacing light bulbs and fixtures within scope of basic maintenance. Carry out minor plumbing tasks, such as simple repairs or adjustments, within basic maintenance capabilities. Conduct general building clean-up for both interior and exterior areas, including common spaces, walkways, and entryways. Handle interior and exterior recycling according to facility guidelines to support efficient building operations. Perform preventative maintenance repairs on industrial equipment within the scope of training and experience. Respond to building maintenance needs as they arise to help maintain a safe, clean, and efficient facility environment. Essential Skills General experience with industrial equipment and the ability to perform preventative maintenance repairs. Knowledge of basic manual work techniques relevant to cleaning and building maintenance. Ability to perform daily cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, restroom cleaning, and garbage disposal. Capability to assist with the tear down and building of office cubicles and related office furniture. Ability to perform minor electrical tasks, such as replacing lights and basic fixture work, within a maintenance setting. Ability to perform minor plumbing tasks in support of general building maintenance. Reliability with good attendance and a consistently positive attitude. Physical ability to lift 50 to 100 pounds as required for cleaning, maintenance, and office move activities. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience handling and stocking cleaning and facility supplies, including unpacking and receiving deliveries. Familiarity with interior and exterior recycling procedures in a building operations environment. Comfort working independently while also collaborating with others to support office moves and building needs. Attention to detail in maintaining cleanliness, safety, and order throughout the facility. Work Environment This role operates in a building and facility environment that includes offices, restrooms, common areas, and interior and exterior spaces. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Work involves regular physical activity, including standing, walking, lifting, carrying, bending, and using cleaning tools and basic maintenance equipment. The position may require working around industrial equipment while performing preventative maintenance and handling supplies. The environment can include exposure to cleaning products and typical building maintenance conditions, with an expectation of practical, neat, and safety-conscious attire appropriate for custodial and maintenance tasks. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Eddyville, IA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.50 - $18.50/hr.
