POSITION SUMMARY
The Medical Courier is responsible for the safe, accurate, and timely transportation/delivery of medical specimens, medications, medical records, and equipment between healthcare facilities, laboratories, and other designated locations. This position plays a critical role in ensuring continuity of patient care while maintaining strict compliance with safety, confidentiality, and regulatory standards.
PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Achieve Results 1. Provide highest quality of service 2. Ensures services in a timely manner Operational Excellence 3. Ensure and uphold the confidentiality requirements of all patient records and manage all daily tasks and activities consistent with HIPAA, state and federal laws and regulations, as well as the clinic's policies and regulations regarding confidentiality and security. Relationships 4. Develop and ensure effective, positive relationships between and among the GHC staff, as well as with patients, vendors, contractors, and related resources. Professionalism 5. Ensure all actions, job performance, personal conduct and communications always represent the organization in a highly professional manner. 6. Uphold and ensure compliance with and attention to all corporate policies and procedures, as well as the mission and values of the organization.
PRIMARY TASKS & DUTIES 1.
Develop required knowledge to effectively assist clinic staff 2. Pick up and deliver lab specimens within established timeframes 3. Ensure specimens are stored at correct temperatures and handled to prevent contamination 4. Transport/deliver medical equipment, documents, and supplies to appropriate locations 5. Clean and disinfect transport containers daily 6. Inspect vehicle daily to ensure safe operations 7. Keep vehicle clean compliant with company and regulatory standards 8. Communicate clearly with staff, lab personnel, and managers 9. Report delays, issues, or specimen concerns immediately 10.Participate in meetings and trainings as required. 11 Other duties, as assigned
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/KEY COMPETENCIES 1.
Function in a multitasking, multiple properties environment, while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail. 2. Communicate with a diverse employee population. 3. Utilize a wide variety of office technology and tools Education High School diploma or equivalent. Must be able to speak read, write and understand English. Professional Communication, customer service or working with the public, preferably in a medical care facility. Knowledge of medical terminology preferred. Valid state driver's license with a clean driving record. Environmental Ability to stand, walk, and drive for extended periods Ability to bend, reach, and climb stairs as needed Ability to lift and carry packages up to 50 pounds Ability to communicate via phone, email and in person to resolve disputes, solve problems, etc. Capacity to function in a sometimes stressful, multi-tasking environment
