Clinic LPN Thayer County Health Services, Hebron, NE
POSITION SUMMARY
This position contributes to the fulfillment of Thayer County Health Services vision and mission by exercising appropriate scope of practice judgement based on knowledge, skills and understanding; developing and maintaining patient care functions for the clinic.SUPERVISION

Full-Time, Non-Exempt, DaysJOB QUALIFICATIONS
Active State of Nebraska or Multi-State LPN License required Maintain current CPR certification. Must have good communication skills. OB experience preferred.PRINICIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Participates in scheduling patients, prepares the patient records for the clinic, planning care for patients utilizing physician orders, instructions, established standards, nursing techniques, policies and procedures. Prepares the patient for each visit with the provider according to the reason given for the visit and anticipates provider's needs for any patient exams or procedures. Performs general nursing care for patients. Administers prescribed medications and treatments within scope of practice. Assumes responsibility for accuracy of procedures, documentation and maintenance of high standards of nursing care. Maintains accurate and complete records. Participates in Quality Assurance, committees where requested/needed, attends in-service programs, staff and employee meetings and required educational trainings. Perform lab test as ordered by Provider. Maintain timely flow of patients, ensures priority is given to emergency situations. Instruct patients and family regarding medications and treatments. Promotes patient education and assists in teaching patient health maintenance and self-care. Establishes and maintains effective relationships with patients, families, medical staff, and other facility staff. Provides exceptional customer service. Assists in training and orientation of new employees. Maintains strict confidentiality. Assist other nursing personnel with performance of their duties as assigned and as the workload permits. Function as a relief for other personnel as appropriate and to facilitate coworkers taking time off. Performs duties in care and cleaning of rooms and equipment after use, reorder and stock supplies in designated areas, keeps the area clean and in order. Participates in planning care for patients utilizing physician orders, instructions, established standards, nursing techniques, policies and procedures under the supervision of a professional RN. Perform other duties as needed.PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
Recognizes and has a commitment to meet the ethical, moral and legal obligations of nursing. Maintains and promotes good health practices. Will conform to TCHS procedures and policies. Will perform all duties as described by the job description within the scope of licensure. Maintains current professional license in accordance with state law. Provides leadership in medical concerns in the absence of the physician. Does not discuss patient matters such as medical treatment, diagnosis or history outside of the clinical setting in, keeping in compliance of HIPAA. Understand and comply with the requirements of Thayer County Health Services' Compliance Program, including, but not limited to, the Code of Conduct, the Compliance Manual. All supporting policies for compliance and compliance plans. Participate in all education and training programs regarding compliance as required by organizational policy and as requested by supervisor. Demonstrates formal greetings with patients, visitors and TCHS staff. Willingly accepts new responsibilities and cooperates with implementation of change. Dresses in a neat, clean uniform for patient care; maintain high personal hygiene standards. Demonstrates respect, integrity, compassion, and excellence through a "We Care" philosophy with all patients, visitors, and TCHS staff.WORKING CONDITIONS
Works in an indoor, smoke-free, climate-controlled environment. Must be able to lift according to Physical demands below. Much bending, lifting, standing, stooping and walking. Must be able to tolerate a moderate noise level Frequent contact with biohazard materials and communicable diseases. Health care workers who prepare or administer hazardous drugs or who work in areas where these drugs are used may be exposed to these agents in the air or on work surfaces, contaminated clothing, medical equipment, patient excreta, and other surfaces. Studies have associated workplace exposures to hazardous drugs with health effects such as skin rashes and adverse reproductive outcomes (including infertility, spontaneous abortions, and congenital malformations) and possibly leukemia and other cancers. The health risk is influenced by the extent of exposure and the potency and toxicity of the hazardous drug.
