Job Description

This is a full-time position assisting a busy school based health center program with front and back support. Anticipated schedule is 8:00 am - 5:00 pm Mon-Fri. Position will be based at Rural Health Group's School Based Health Center located on the campus of KIPP in Gaston, NC. Travel to other SBHC locations will be required. Candidates must be a Certified MA or have an active North Carolina LPN license. •Only Certified Medical Assistants will be considered•Please do not apply if you are not a
CMA. CNA
applicants or MAs who are not yet certified will not be considered. Hours will typically be Monday - Friday 8 am to 5pm, but flexibility in scheduling in this role is critical. In order to qualify for this position, you must genuinely love working with underserved patient populations and with children in the school system setting. Successful candidate must demonstrate the Rural Health Group Core Competencies, which include: Good Judgment Communication/Customer Service/Teamwork Passion Honesty Responsibility Job-Specific Skill Set The following clinical skills/experience are preferred: Phlebotomy Equipment usage (EKG, clinitek, Hemoglobin) Good documentation skills Tracking and maintaining medical data Immunization (adult and pediatric) Injections IV therapy Strong understanding of disease management for providing patient education at the direction of provider Responsibilities Analyzing quality metrics and conducting pre-visit planning Referrals - making, tracking and following up Assist with patient tracking and recalls Assist with all document management including daily scanning Ordering of medical and office supplies Patient registration Provides routine direct and indirect patient care in a clinic All work performed is under the direct supervision of a registered nurse or provider Provides care/ treatments to patients as outlined in plan of care including, but not limited to, the measurement of vital signs, height and weight, specimen collection, skin preps/scrubs, capillary blood glucose checks, simple wound care, range of motion exercises, postural drainage Assist physicians and other health care providers with routine examinations and procedures, as well as procurement of equipment and supplies during emergency situations Observes, collects, and documents patient information obtained while providing care and promptly report significant changes in the patient's condition to a registered nurse or provider Distributes patient education materials at the request of patients and/or health care providers Provides direct personal care to patients as outlined in plan of care for routine activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, feeding and assisting with ambulation Provides indirect care to patients and assigned area to include, but not limited to, cleaning the work area, changing linens, re-stocking supplies, cleaning/sterilizing instruments, transporting patients/ supplies/ specimens, assisting in the orientation of new employees and students, and some routine clerical functions
REQUIREMENTS
Outpatient physician office experience strongly preferred Active North Carolina LPN license or MA Certification/Registration Excellent organizational, telephone and communication skills Excellent leadership and teamwork skills High school diploma or GED Ability to juggle multiple priorities and work efficiently in a potentially stressful environment Ability to apply good judgment while carrying out responsibilities Pleasant, professional approach; must be able to work well with the public and provide excellent internal and external customer service Ability to establish and maintain positive, effective, professional relationships with patients, providers, coworkers, and superiors Possess knowledge of modern office equipment and Microsoft Office software programs Basic computer skills; must be able to quickly learn to use eClinicalWorks electronic health record system Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus, but not required; applicants who may serve in a translating capacity will be required to take a language assessment EOE.
