Job Description

JOB SUMMARY
Under general supervision, the Clinical Informaticist is responsible for leveraging health information technology to improve clinical workflows, patient care, and healthcare delivery. The primary focus is on the integration, optimization, and management of electronic health records (EHR) systems, clinical decision support systems (CDSS), and other health IT tools to enhance the quality of care, patient safety, and operational efficiency. This role requires a blend of clinical expertise, health IT knowledge, and project management skills. The ideal candidate strives for superior performance by consistently providing a product or service to leadership and staff that is recognized as ultimately contributing to the patient and family experience. Recognizes and demonstrates understanding of patient and family centered care.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Identify, design and evaluate clinical information systems and applications. Work closely with physicians, nurses, IT staff, and other healthcare professionals to understand clinical needs, gather feedback, and ensure that health IT solutions are user-friendly and effective. Support data governance initiatives to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of clinical data within the EHR and other health IT systems. Develop and enforce protocols for data entry and reporting. Participate in the development of organizational policies and initiatives related to collecting, managing and communicating clinical information. Participate in EMR design, build, implementation and training for new providers or practices. Act as an agent of change to help promote organization adoption of EMR and workflow to optimize patient safety and experience. Demonstrates knowledge of and supports hospital mission, vision, value statements, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality statements, corporate compliance plan, customer service standards, and the code of ethical behavior.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS EDUCATION
High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Bachelor's degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required. Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Medicine, Health Informatics, or a related field preferred.
EXPERIENCE
Experience in a clinical setting (e.g., nurse, physician, clinical specialist) is preferred. Experience working in an analytical role preferred. Experience with EHR systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner, Meditech) and clinical decision support systems is highly desirable. Experience with healthcare quality improvement initiatives, clinical workflows, or healthcare data analysis is a plus. Knowledge of Change management methodologies is desired. Strong project management or process improvement skills are preferred.
CERTIFICATIONS
Certification in Clinical Informatics (e.g., Clinical Informatics Board Certification or Certified Professional in Healthcare Information and Management Systems (CPHIMS)) preferred but not required. For healthcare professionals, licensure in a clinical field (e.g., RN, RT, NP) is a plus.
DESIRED SKILLS
Able to travel independently throughout all Memorial Healthcare facilities. Small motor skills required for operating modern computer, office, and telephone equipment as utilized by Memorial Healthcare (MHC). Ability to learn, adapt, and maintain focus in fast paced, quickly changing or stressful situations. Ability to read and interpret a variety of documents including, but not limited to policies, operating instructions, white papers, regulations, rules and laws. Ability to interact with co-workers, hospital staff, administration, patients, physicians, the public and all internal and external customers in a professional and effective, courteous and tactful manner, at all times, physically, verbally and in all written and electronic communication. Demonstrates good initiative and ownership skills. Actively gathers the information that they need from others to be successful. Required to remain calm when adversity is encountered. Open, honest, and tactful communication skills. Positive, cooperative and motivated attitude.
