Job Summary The Mass General Brigham Medical Group is a system-led operating entity formed by Mass General Brigham to deliver high quality, low cost, innovative community-based ambulatory care. This work stems from Mass General Brigham's unified system strategy to bring health care closer to patients while lowering total health care costs. The Medical Group provides a wide range of offerings, including primary care, specialty care, behavioral and mental health, and urgent care, both digitally as well as at physical locations in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Maine. The group also offers outpatient surgery and endoscopy, imaging, cardiac testing, and infusion. We share the commitment to delivering a coordinated and comprehensive experience across all locations, ensuring the appropriate level of care is available to every patient across our care delivery sites. Founded in 2003, our office offers experienced care in all fields of gastroenterology to the entire Pioneer Valley. Our physicians and advanced practitioners are dedicated to providing up to date cutting edge care and we aim to integrate our care with other providers. One of our primary goals is colon cancer prevention. We offer highly skilled endoscopists. We also offer comprehensive care in acute and chronic liver disease, inflammatory bowel disease such as Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, celiac disease, Barrett's esophagus and upper gastrointestinal motility testing. We are located at 10 Main Street, Suite 2 in Florence, MA 01062. We are seeking a full-time, 40-hour Clinic/Practice Assistant to support our Gastroenterology practice onsite, Monday through Friday 8:15M to 4:45PM. The Clinic/Practice Assistant serves as the face of our medical group and plays a key role in managing the patient experience on the reception/administrative support side. Summary Performs both administrative and clinical functions to support smooth and efficient clinical service or practice operations under general supervision. Performs basic clerical work and tasks that are repetitive and routine. Administrative duties related to patient visits including scheduling, check-in, check-out duties. Actual job duties may vary by Department. Does this position require Patient Care? No Essential Functions
  • Perform routine administrative and clerical duties relating to a clinical service or physician practice office.
  • Make patient appointments and maintain appointment records.
  • Greet and assist patients.
  • Answer telephones, assist callers with routine inquiries, and schedule appointments.
  • File materials in patient folders, and print appointment schedules.
  • Process patient billing forms and scan documents to patient medical record/LMR.
  • Call for patient medical records and laboratory test results.
  • Open and distribute unit mail or faxes.
  • Type forms, records, schedules, memos, etc., as directed.
  • May be required to accept co-payments.
  • Handles, screens and/or takes messages related to prior authorizations,
  • provider questions, prescription refills, and test results.
  • Acts as "Super User" for scheduling, registration and billing systems.
  • Provides assistance and training to others in these areas.
  • May perform more complex or specialized functions (i.e. surgical scheduling, schedule changes/blocking) at more advanced competency level.
