Job Description

I. Job Summary The CMM Quality Lab Technician I perform dimensional inspections, data collection, and technical investigations using lab equipment, including coordinate measuring machines (CMMs). This role supports quality assurance activities through accurate measurement, documentation, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure product conformance and continuous improvement. II. Essential Job Functions Primary Job Functions (70%) - Quality Control Departmental Functions 1. Conduct receiving and in-process inspections following Tuff Torq procedures (QC01). 2. Operate CMM equipment and run measurement programs with minimal supervision. 3. Perform technical studies and investigations using advanced lab tools. 4. Interpret and apply engineering drawings and GD&T to inspection tasks. 5. Record and analyze data for IRs, SPAP, and quality investigations in QMS. 6. Support calibration and maintenance of gages and lab equipment. 7. Investigate incident reports and assist in root cause analysis. 8. Input and retrieve data using MAPICS and maintain accurate inspection records. Secondary Job Functions (20%) - Hierarchical Responsibilities 1. Participate in cross-functional reviews with Production, Engineering, and Purchasing to resolve quality issues. 2. Provide training on lab equipment usage and inspection techniques to other technicians. 3. Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by identifying inspection or process gaps. 4. Support corrective actions and validation studies as directed by Quality Engineering. Common Job Functions (10%) - Alignment with Mission and Values 1.   • High School Diploma or GED is required. 2 Physical Requirements and Working Environment
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 30 lbs. regularly during the shift.
  • Manual dexterity and visual acuity required for operating measurement tools and interpreting detailed drawings.
  • Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment that includes exposure to machinery, moving parts, and moderate noise levels.
  • Flexibility to work second or third shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required to support production and quality operations. Experience and Minimum Qualifications Needed
  • Minimum three years of quality lab experience.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings and GD&T.
  • Familiarity with lab measurement tools, CMM operation, and inspection protocols.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a positive, team-oriented attitude.
  • Self-motivated with a stable work history and willingness to learn and adapt.
