Job Description

Colonial's facility is located in Plainfield (Windham County), CT not Plain ville (Hartford County), CT. Colonial is currently seeking dedicated professional CNAs on First Shift (5:30a-1:30p) to fill full time (32 hour) or a part time (24 hour) position at its Plainfield, CT nursing facility. We are not offering any per diem CNA positions on any shift. Tired of applying to jobs offering sign on bonuses with strings attached? Most employees choose one of two options : (1) our " Agency Rate " on second and third shifts ( $24.32/hr ), which competes with staffing agency rates by offering a higher rate of pay and waiving some but not all traditional employment benefits (temporary staffing agencies generally do not offer any benefits), OR (2) our full benefit package , which is generously designed (more details below) and still comes with a solid pay rate on second and third shifts ( $20.27/hr ). Option 1 - Prefer Higher Wages Over Benefits? Our "Agency Rate" is Designed for You! You'll get regular hours without hunting down shifts on an app, calling in to find out what's available for pickup, and finally put an end to those last minute unpaid shift cancellations. Get a predictable paycheck and a high rate of pay week after week - without temporary bonuses, expiring rate add-ons or other gimmicks. Our "Agency Rate" is available to CNAs who work at least 20 hours per week part-time hours or full-time hours. Work directly for us and be part of our Team! What is Colonial's Agency Rate for CNAs on First Shift? $24.32 per hour on first shift for CNAs working at least 20 hours per week part-time or full time (rate includes shift differential and pay in lieu of PTO, extra day's holiday pay, and health, dental and vision coverages) How is the "Agency Rate" calculated for First Shift? $20.27/hr base rate (first shift rate) - starts on hire $2.20/hr pay in lieu of health, dental and vision coverages - starts when benefit-eligible
  • $1.85/hr pay in lieu of certain paid time off - starts when benefit-eligible
  • $24.32 /hr " Agency Rate "
  • Health insurance is offered starting the first of the month following 30 days of employment. When elected, the $2.20/hr pay in lieu of health benefit option starts with the first pay date of that same month.
  • Paid personal days, vacation days and an extra day's holiday pay on 10 named holidays are offered after employees complete their probationary period (standard 90 days).
Employees working for staffing agencies do not receive these benefits and tend to prefer a higher rate of pay when working. Is any other compensation or benefits offered CNAs on Agency Rate? YES! CNAs on "Agency Rate" earn: $3.75 per hour for working on a weekend off $3.75 per hour for working a shift of 12 hours or more (on a voluntary fill-in basis only, not offered with a routine schedule) 1.5X when working 10 named holidays up to six (6) paid sick days per year (pro-rated for part time employees) bereavement and jury duty defined benefit pension plan credits premium-free short-term disability, life and AD&D insurance -- all without any payroll deductions. Who is eligible for benefits?
  • Part-Time employees working 20 or more hours per week (employee coverage, including prescriptions )
  • Full-Time employees working 30 or more hours per week (employee plus dependent coverage, including prescriptions ) What does health insurance cost employees?
  • Nothing - NO employee paid premiums! NO payroll deductions! What is the deductible for in-network health insurance?
  • By adding a health reimbursement arrangement (HRA) on top of your medical health coverage ($1,615 for employee only coverage and $3,230 for employee plus any dependent coverage), Colonial's medical and prescription drug plan feels and acts quite generously:
  • For employee only coverage in the CIGNA network, the practical deductible is $900. After this deductible, there are copays/coinsurance of about 15% until a $5,785 maximum out of pocket is met, which is when all in-network expenses under the plan are fully picked up by the plan.
  • For employee plus any dependent(s) coverage in the CIGNA network, the practical deductible is $1,800.
After this deductible, there are copays/coinsurance of about 15% until an $11,570 maximum out of pocket is met, which is when all in-network expenses under the plan are fully picked up by the plan. How do employees use the HRA? After your deductible is met, simply use the HRA debit card to pay for health expenses just like you would any other purchase, OR, if you happen to pay with another way, request reimbursement to your bank account quickly and easily online or thru an app. What other insurance benefits are offered premium-free? ( NO payroll deductions!)
  • Dental coverage thru DeltaDental ($50/$150 deductible, 100% preventative, 80% basic, 50% major, annual maximum benefit per person $1,000)
  • Vision coverage thru DeltaVision/VSP Vision Care ($10 copay, annual exams, frames and lenses, and contacts)
  • Life and AD&D insurance thru Equitable ($25,000)
  • Short-term disability insurance thru Equitable (66.
67% up to $300 per week for 24 weeks after 2-week elimination period) What retirement benefits are offered? Colonial contributes 9.5% of each employee's gross earnings to a defined benefit pension fund after the first sixty days of employment. The defined benefit pension tends to approximate the social security earnings at full retirement age. The fund allows for permanent disability benefits, early retirement, and in some cases, early retirement without a reduced benefit. The plan requires 5 years of creditable service to vest.
