Opens a new window. Position Summary The CNC Machinist I is responsible for operating CNC machines and performing routine machining tasks in support of production and quality requirements. This role focuses on consistent machine operation, basic tooling changes, and in-process inspection while following established programs and work instructions. The CNC Machinist I works independently on assigned machines but escalates issues beyond routine operation to higher-level machinists or supervision. Essential Duties and Responsibilities To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • Operate CNC machines in accordance with established programs, work instructions, and safety procedures
  • Load and unload parts and monitor machine cycles
  • Change basic tooling as required
  • Use gauges and precision measuring devices to perform in-process inspections
  • Verify parts meet quality and dimensional requirements
  • Recognize improper machine functioning and report findings to CNC Machinist II, CNC Machinist
III, CNC
Machinist Lead, or Supervisor
  • Use pass down sheets and participate in face-to-face problem-solving meetings to communicate machine status, including: o Dates and times tooling was last changed o Maintenance or equipment issues o Machine performance or repeatability concerns o Status of ongoing setups or jobs in progress
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of shop floor systems used for production tracking, quality, and communication
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
  • Comply with all company safety, quality, and production policies

Machinist Lead, or supervision Minimum Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • Minimum 1 year of CNC machining experience or successful completion of the internal CNC Machinist Trainee program
  • Experience operating CNC machines following established programs
  • Ability to adjust basic tooling and make routine tooling changes
  • Ability to use basic measuring equipment (calipers, micrometers, gauges)
  • Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints
  • Basic math skills (decimals and fractions)
  • Ability to communicate machine status and issues clearly using pass downs and face-to-face communication Physical Demands, Work Environment, Health & Safety Physical Demands
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 30 pounds
  • Frequent repetitive hand and wrist motions, including operating machine controls
  • Ability to open and close machine doors repeatedly
  • Ability to load parts into chucks or fixtures
  • Ability to bend, reach, push, pull, and grasp as required
  • Visual acuity sufficient to read measuring instruments, machine displays, and blueprints Work Environment
  • Manufacturing machine shop environment
  • Regular exposure to machine noise, metal chips, coolants, and machining oils
  • Exposure to temperature variations, fumes, and mists
