Job Title:
CNC Lathe Operator (3rd Shift) Job Description This role operates CNC lathes in a high-precision, high-demand job-shop environment, producing quality parts to exact specifications. You will set up and run CNC equipment, interpret blueprints, and use precision measuring tools to ensure parts meet tight tolerances while supporting consistent production output on a stable, long-term workload. Responsibilities Operate CNC lathes, including models such as Okuma, Miyano, or Brothers, to produce precision components according to specifications. Interpret and follow blueprints and technical drawings to determine dimensions, tolerances, and machining sequences. Use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges to inspect parts and verify dimensional accuracy. Perform in-process inspections and make necessary machine adjustments to maintain quality and adherence to specifications. Monitor machine operations throughout the shift, identify issues such as tool wear or dimensional drift, and take corrective action. Follow established machining, inspection, and safety procedures to ensure consistent product quality and a safe work area. Document production and inspection results as required and communicate any quality or production concerns to the appropriate personnel. Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency, quality, or safety in machining processes. Maintain a clean and organized work area around the CNC equipment and handle materials and parts in a safe, efficient manner. Essential Skills At least 2 years of CNC operating experience, preferably on CNC lathes. Experience operating CNC lathes, ideally including Okuma, Miyano, or Brothers equipment. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings. Proficiency using precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges for inspection. Hands-on experience with Fanuc controls for CNC operation. Strong understanding of machining processes and basic inspection techniques. Ability to work independently on a 3rd shift schedule while maintaining consistent quality and productivity. Work Environment This position works on 3rd shift, from 10:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m., Monday evening through Saturday morning. The facility operates as a small job-shop environment handling high-precision, high-demand orders. You will work around CNC lathes and related machining equipment, using tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges as part of daily inspection and machining activities. Safety is supported through reimbursement for prescription safety glasses and safety shoes, reflecting a focus on proper protective equipment in the production area Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sussex, WI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $28.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
