CNC Programming and Tooling Lead Phoenix Engineering - 3.6 North Canton, OH Job Details Full-time 11 hours ago Qualifications Statistics 3D CAD modeling Statistics Geometry Technical Proficiency Full Job Description About the Role As a CNC Programming and Tooling Lead, you will drive manufacturing excellence by overseeing the development of advanced machining strategies and optimizing tool-crib operations. You will play a pivotal role in enhancing production efficiency, mentoring technical staff, and implementing cutting-edge machining technologies to ensure high-quality output. Responsibilities Direct the daily operations of the CNC programming team and tool-crib personnel to ensure seamless production workflows. Standardize machining strategies, toolpath selection, and setup documentation to improve consistency and reduce operational errors. Manage the full lifecycle of tooling inventory, including staging, maintenance, and cost-benefit analysis of re-grind versus new tools. Mentor and develop team members, fostering both technical proficiency and professional growth within the department. Evaluate and integrate new machining technologies and tools through structured trials to maintain a competitive edge. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align programming capabilities with downstream processing requirements. Analyze cycle times, surface finish quality, and tooling expenditures to drive macro-level process improvements. Qualifications Required Skills Proven experience in CNC programming using G&M codes and conversational control systems. Proficiency in CAD/CAM software, including AutoCAD or SolidWorks for 2D and 3D modeling. Strong analytical skills with the ability to solve complex manufacturing problems and optimize machining parameters. Deep understanding of machine tool design, maintenance, and application. Solid grasp of applied mathematics, including geometry and statistics, as they relate to machining. Preferred Skills Prior experience in a leadership or supervisory capacity within a machine shop environment. Hands-on experience with 3-4 axis VMC and 2-4 axis CNC lathes. Familiarity with jig grinders and manual vertical milling operations. Demonstrated success in implementing process improvement initiatives in a production setting.
